Hello all!

I've spent the better part of my day scouring the internet for the perfect setting. It took a while to narrow down what exactly I was looking for, what precisely about certain rings I was inexplicably drawn to. I've found that I love narrow shanks (1.8 to 2.2 mm), even thickness of the shank all 'round the ring, little metal showing, 7 o clock to 5 o clock pave on the band, and a simple four prong head.

I came across this thread on the forum:

and fell in love. The price points were perfect, the pave and prongs spot on. I was in heaven!

From the Gabriel & Co site:

Through more research on this forum, however, it seems that this ring has a problem with diamonds on the band falling out, which is why GOG and IDJ no longer carry the setting. I was crushed to come so close to what I was looking for in a seemingly perfect package.

I took a look at BGD's Fishtail Pave with Truth Head but wasn't keen on the way the head joined the band. The Novela came close, but the donut at the base felt a little too bulky. I'm really into clean and smooth lines, lol.

In a similar vein, how durable is a head that is attached to the shank the way the Gabriel ring is versus the Novela? I'd think that the Novela head would be more sturdy as it's integrated into the band, where the Gabriel seems to be perched atop the ring. But, I defer to the wisdom of PSers!

Short of going a custom route, is there another similar setting out there?

Thank you!

I would stick to 2mm above. The very thin pave bands seem to have problems with diamonds falling out no matter who makes them :twirl:

Ah, that makes sense. I'll go for a bit thicker band, then :)

By any chance, could you recommend some settings? :naughty:

i know you said you weren't sure about the Truth head on the BG ring but here's a pre-loved for a great price:

There aren't a lot of ready made fishtail pave settings out there. Are you open to other pave styles? Lots more options if so..

I'm showing my greenness with this question, but hey.. :)

What do you mean by other pave styles? Like halos?

Ooh, thanks for the link, it cleared up so many of my misconceptions.

To answer the earlier question, nope, it does not have to be fishtail pave, but I'd like to stay away from channel set side stones.

Thanks! :D

What's your budget for the setting?

I'd like to keep it under $1500, if possible.

Those are beautiful, I particularly love the first one. I quite like how the head is integrated into the band, it seems sturdier than the Gabriel. How durable would the pave be on the first ring, do you think?
