So my girlfriend hinted that she wanted a semi-bezel setting. I really like the profile of the one attached, but haven''t been able to find it in white gold (and can''t afford it in platinum).

Anybody have any idea where I can find one similar?

(FTR the ring is 4mm thick and available at Blue Nile)

This one''s mine, Sholdt semi bezel

There''s a few other nice one out there but can''t think of them now. Maybe someone else can remember.

If you retouch a designer ring or even size with a non authorized jeweler, any warranty associated with the setting becomes void.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have now added

Which one do people like best? (Sholdt, Thibaudeau, Ritani, or the original one from BlueNile)
Any recommendations for where to get one? (Also not sure a designer ring is in my budget ...)

My voite is obviously the Sholdt

Next is the Ritani. I'm really liking it.
The Claude Thibaudeau looks too much like the Sholdt but with a thicker bezel. Not loving it.

Is there any way you can see a few of them in person?

ETA: Go to the designers web page and see who in your area carries their settings.

I know this is a bit different or maybe totally different, but I thought this could work within your budget. It''ll still give you the half bezel with a bit of the profile. What do you think?

I do like the keystone one. When I first saw it I was a little concerned about the flat edges of the band and the empty space viewable beneath the diamond (my girlfriend is a chef and I can picture her getting food stuck in there). I actually talked to Lisa at WF about it Friday. She is supposed to get back to me tomorrow.

Elle,
Thanks for your input. I am hoping to view some of them in person tomorrow. Headed up to 888 Brannan (formerly the San Francisco Giftcenter & Jewelrymart). Shopping for this ring is both exciting and stressful. Super glad I found all the info on pricescope.

Every else,
Attached a picture of the keystone. Keep the votes coming (I''m a guy we always need a woman''s taste to pick something out)

I''m glad I was able to help you! Maybe WF could add a panel on the sides that would close the gap so it won''t be a concern for you anymore.

That is exactly what she is looking into.

The sholdt is my favorite. I love the clean lines and the metal looks so liquid like...beautiful!

I''m not as fond of the original Blue Nile setting but the Sholdt, Ritani, and WhiteFlash versions all seem nice. It depends on your budget and also how much of the diamond you want exposed.

Also, if the diamond isn''t ideal cut, it won''t get as much light and won''t sparkle as much.

Cut is my #1 priority, but you do make a good point. Actually just got back from the Jeweler''s and he is going to make one custom. Gave him all the pictures to work with. Thinking I should call back and have him base it mainly off the Sholdt for the sparkle reasoning. Thanks for the advice!

If the stone is ideally cut, no light you see should be coming from the pavilion of the diamond so a full bezel will not in anyway affect the light performance of the stone.

Good to know. Any chance you can help me some more stone-cold11?
The jeweler said he could do whatever platinum alloy I wanted. I remembered the Platinum-ruthenium and Platinum-cobalt hardness advice you had given me from another thread. He said these also do a Platinum-palladium alloy. Any recommendations on what I should have him make the ring out of? Have you ever heard of a platinum-palladium alloy?

Pt950/Pd is soft, is among the softest of the Pt alloys.

I would stick with Pt950/Ru if he can make that.

Thanks for more great info. I had seen the pricescope and Mark Morrell sites, but the ganoksin one was great too. Was starting to worry the jeweler was crazy because I couldn''t find pt/pd alloys anywhere.

I am trusting you and asking for the PT950/Ru. Thanks again for all your help.

(and thanks everyone else for the ring votes)
