I''m looking for recommendations on a 10x loupe, that is not more than 50.00 at most. Any help would be appreciated as I know there are MANY experts on this site. I have tried searching myself and am just overwhelmed at the selection. Thanks!~
For most consumers, the standard 10x triplet corrected loupe that is offered by many of the vendors here on PS will be satisfactory - heck, it''s the loupe I keep on my desk and use throughout the day - it''s like $15.00 so I guess what I''m trying to say is that a nice loupe does not have to be expensive.
I started out with a more expensive Bausch & Lombe brand loupe which was about $75.00 and soon discovered that I preferred the less expensive loupe because it had a wider field of vision and the lens quality seemed the same in terms of providing me with a clear view of the inclusions... I also keep a 15x; 20x; and 30x loupe on my desk, but the standard 10x is suitable for most applications, except for reading inscriptions clearly which I prefer the 20x - 30x for.
The led lighted loupe is awesome for gemstones and works ok for diamonds.
For diamonds you need to shut the light off.
They arent as good as the higher end loupes for just diamonds but they are nice for field use and in particular for colored stones they rock.
I just ordered this one from Amazon and got it really fast. It works well enough for a $3.75 loupe, but then again I've never tried one of the more expensive loupes.
hi there you might wanna check this link out https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/most-recommended-10x-jeweller-loupe-carl-zeiss.123415/, however they may be a little more pricey
