Hello,

I'm looking to sanity check the price I was quoted for this stone. If you don't mind please let me know your thoughts. I've taken a look at this stone for a couple of hours now on a few visits. It is very eye clean. The only real blemish is a feather by the edge. It's noticable under 10x but is will be easily hidden by a prong. Otherwise the stone is very "eye clean" nothing in the center. Two pinpoints you can't see underneath the edges according to the cert. My questions are what would be a normal range for this stone and a "buy it now" range. Also curious if the polish really matters. Know it's alittle "deep" but does that matter much? It's a beautiful stone. Any other perspectives would be really helpful as I'm about to pull the trigger but just want to make sure.

Thanks!

Do you have a cert number? Any photos and ASET available?

I have seen the GIA certificate and it has a cert number and everything lines up. Unfortunately I don't have any ASET photos but have seen it through a hearts and diamond viewer and it shows the symmetry the "hearts and arrows" of the stone.

I should probably also add that the jeweler was saying that "he could have argued" for a VS2 given the placement of the feather and the rest of the stone is virtually flawless. Comparing it to other SI1s it's definitely much nicer. Just not sure if this is just a sales pitch or if I should look to have it regraded or something after I buy it.

I ran the numbers you posted through the HCA https://www.pricescope.com/tools/hca, and it doesn't score well - 3.9. Just because a stone gets an excellent cut grade from GIA doesn't mean it's top notch; their category is very broad, and some duds slip through. That's where the HCA comes in handy - it can help weed out some less than desirable characters. Ideally you want a number under 2, then get an idealscope image to assess light performance.

Light Return Very Good
Fire Good
Scintillation Good
Spread or diameter for weight Very Good
Total Visual Performance 3.9 - Very Good - Worth buying if the price is right

I would keep looking.
