Alright, this is the first place I have looked and I am starting my search here! It seems like I can find some help on this site and I appreciate all the advice and knowledge here!

I am looking for a wedding ring to get engaged to my girlfriend. She is somewhat unique in the fact that she doesn''t want a traditional ring that is flashy or huge or says ''look at me!''. She wants a subtle ring that is gold.

I have no idea where to start looking for ideas and designs, so I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction. As of now, and I don''t know if this exists, but I am thinking a gold band with a diamond built in so it''s simply not just a gold band - but still has that special touch that truly resembles what this is for.

Thanks in advance!

What's your budget? We'll be able to help more if you give us some parameters! And, yes, there are lots of beautiful bands with diamonds set flush (flat) in them.

Hey, thanks for the quick reply! Sorry, not used to this, so please let me know what else you might need to know.

My budget is between 5-10K (cash up to 6, otherwise up to 10). I am hoping prices change when cash only is involved, but again - I am new to this!

Thanks!

Not a problem -- you''ll find people love to help on this forum, but we want to make sure we don''t suggest things that are out of your price range. You have a great budget. If your future fiance likes contemporary styles, one beautiful ring style that comes to mind is the Tiffany Etoile ring
Tiffany Etoile

A genuine Tiffany Etoile with a .50 diamond starts at $4100, according to their site.

But there are several Pricescope vendors who have similar settings, and who also have great diamonds.
For example, here''s Whiteflash''s version

With your budget, you would be able to get a lovely stone from their ACA collection.

James Allen has a similar setting.

If your future fiance likes more antique-look settings, this one by James Meyer is wonderful and you could work with him to find an antique (OEC) cut diamond for the setting.

And for something really different and very elegant, consider George Sawyer''s Japanese-inspired Mokume bands.

A tension-set ring can be beautifully understated. Here''s one for a point of reference, although it may not be the best example:

How about something in Mokume Gane?

Check out www.anduradesigns.com

I bought my husband's wedding band from them - it's in three colours of gold and I asked them to make it subtle which they did. They were very helpful.

Each piece is completely unique and they can do them with diamonds as well as plain, you could also have one made from the same piece of metal for yourself. My husband gets loads of positive comments on his ring from both men and women - especially men who had no idea that there were alternatives to the plain platinum or gold band...

Thanks for all the replies!

I really like this - http://www.pearlmansjewelers.com/jewelry-designers/steven-kretchmer-jewelry/rings/35O1/14/

Any other ideas or places people can point me to?

I fixed your link:

Kretchmer
I love anything by Steven Kretchmer, so I have to admit my bias! But I think you''re on the right track here. Kretchmer makes high quality, beautiful jewelry.

If you're looking for other design ideas, this company has some of the most unusual settings I've ever seen. The quality appears to be excellent and they specialize in custom design. Their website has a lot of images under the "custom" tab. They will set your stone if you send it to them; you do not have to buy the diamond from them.

also try evejewelry.com - some good bands with low/bezel stones (i.e Peace & Repose and Princess Knights)
