Hello Everyone,

I have been looking at sapphires for a few months now and I am looking to take the plunge. The sapphire is for an engagement ring. So far these are what I am looking at:

http://www.wildfishgems.com/inc/sdetail/ceylon-sapphire-1-26-carat/10883/17664

http://www.wildfishgems.com/inc/sdetail/ceylon-sapphire-1-36-carat/12743/13498

http://www.africagems.com/round-blue-sapphire-gemstone-54727044.html (20% off)

I have a max budget of ~$2,000. Anything you guys find that is nice, or any critiques on the ones I chose? (best one perhaps?)

Thanks for the help guys.

First and foremost, what exactly are you looking for? The reason for this is that the 3 sapphires you linked to are so different from each other as night and day. One is light blue, one is silvery greenish blue and the last is the "typical" blue.

1. Carat weight and mm size you hope to get
2. Shape
3. Budget = $2K
4. I presume heat only or are you looking for untreated?
5. Colour - straight blue? some green? Light or dark or medium dark?

Thank you for the reply Chrono. You are right I was not very specific with my post.

1. Carat weight and mm size you hope to get = about 1.3ct 5.5 - 6mm
2. Shape = Any shape really, I am looking for vibrancy more than anything.
3. Budget = $2K
4. I presume heat only or are you looking for untreated? = either is fine
5. Colour - straight blue? some green? Light or dark or medium dark? = I prefer straight blue, but this is also where I am not picky. I like the icy look of some lighter color sapphires and I also like the greenish hue of some Montana Sapphires. But a rich blue sapphire in my price range would be great!

Thanks again.

I do like this one a lot. I saw it a I was trolling around the forums.

This and Chrono's http://www.pearlmansjewelers.com/gemstones/?sku=7509 are my favorites thus far.

Ask fine water for a video. I find his photos dont do his stones justice, while the vendor Pearlman uses usually shows the stone in at its best.

How do you think you'll set your sapphire?

Oh that would be lovely. How much did you budget for that?

Probably not realistic for a halo setting, even if in white gold.

What would you put on a realistic value for a halo ring. I may have to change my expectations.

Not necessarily. There are things you can do to reduce the price of a halo. Diamonds on in the halo, not the shank, for example, or buying a stone that fits stock settings. I'm looking now, I may have an idea, but it'll be a moment

I was just going to suggest idj they almost always beat the price that Gabriel and co has listed. For example, this is listed over 1300 on the g&co site, but I got a quote for it from idj under 1k for a round of course, but you get the idea

Beautifully cut, 6 mm round, just shy of $2K, and rich blue colour.

6 mm cushion (kinda small for its ct weight), lovely bright blue, and less than $2K

id jewelry confirmed this is for a 6mm round, it would fit that first round sapphire,
