Hello,
I got an offer for a diamond for the engagement ring I'm going to buy to my girlfriend.
As for the carat (0.43) color (F), clarity (VS1) I could read a lot in the net and I'm satisfied with this, about the proportions and measurements I have no idea how good they are.

I attached the GIA cert, and enlarged the proportions.

Can someone tell me please, and explain, how good are the proportions, the measurements and finally how good do you think this diamond is?

Thanks

From my limited experience, the dimensions look like they could be better. If I did it right plugging into HCA I got a 4.0. Do you have the opportunity to get an idealscope image? Where are you shopping at?

Re: Looking for explanations about a diamond from the GIA ce

for me, the table is too big and the crown is too high. Table I'd keep it less than 57 (I prefer 54-56), and the crown, as close to 34 as possible.

Re: Looking for explanations about a diamond from the GIA ce

Thanks for your answers.
As I can see from your answers, the stone is not ideal and can be better, even though the cut 3 grades are GIA excellent, excellent, very good.

My question is, how good is this stone?
If the dimensions were, as of jmarshall example - table less than 57 and the crown close to 34 - how will it affect the view of the diamond? Will it be a big difference, or only a minor to none difference?

Thanks

If you can get the HCA score down to <2.0, preferably 1.0, it will make a significant difference.

As I asked before, where are you shopping?

What is your budget, and Carat/clarity/color desired?

Re: Looking for explanations about a diamond from the GIA ce

I'm shopping from a diamond exchange member in the israel diamond exchange.
I guess you don't know him, but from what I know, the members of the israel diamond exchange have very strict rules about what they can sell and that they have to tell all the truth to the customer.

My budget for the diamond is around 1500-2000 $.
about carat, 0.4-0.5.
clarity and color - I prefer the best that can be taken in consideration. This diamond (F/VS1) is excellent for me.

Doesn't it matter that the cut grade is Excellent, symmetry also excellent, and the polish very good?
And how bad is a HCA grade of 4.0? or is it still good (not as <2.0 grade, but still good)?

Thanks

In this size range, the supply is extremely large, so I don't think you should have to "settle" for something with an HCA of 4.

Is a .4-.5 F VS also her preference, or do you think she would want a larger stone and give up some color and clarity?

Are you opposed to a diamond purchase from somewhere else?
