Hi everyone
Loooooooong time lurker, first time poster (finally!!!) My boyfriend gave me the green light to shop for my engagement ring! so happy it wasn't a surprise or anything, I definitely want to pick it out myself! I have a 15-17k budget, and I love princess cuts (but after all the reading here I'm kind of concerned that they are dated or old fashioned?) I definitely don't want a round. I want to buy online but my boyfriend wants to see the stone in person and buy from a jeweler. I'll try to convince him otherwise, or I'll have the jeweler order the stone in store. I want to reserve 2500-3000 for a pave setting in platinum, which leaves me 12000-14,500 for the stone. I'm looking for a princess (or a cushion, which I also like). I have learned here that cut is everything, but I'm also looking for value, I just want something thats white and that sparkles. I'm no expert and neither is anyone in my circle, so while I want it to be a brilliant stone, I'm ok with not paying the premium for an ideal cut. Help me shop around? Whats the carat weight I should look for? I think I am happy with I and above for color, beyond that I'm open! Thanks in advance
