Hi Ladies!

Well..............
It looks like FI and I will be getting married, on the sly, :naughty: at home in a few weeks. We want to avoid the paperwork hassle that Mexico requires and I think this would just be easiest. We are thinking of inviting over a few friends for a cookout, getting a JP, and having a suprise ceremony in our back yard! :appl: Another good thing is: I gave my sister a heads up, and while she can't make it to Mexico, she can make it to my house for this!!!

I have been looking for a white dress, preferably straplesss and not too boufy, that would flatter my curvy figure and NOT cost a fortune. I could wear this dress in Mexico too, after our ceremony when we go out on the town. I've been planning on getting a second dress but just haven't found the "right one".

I am open to strapless or halter, knee lenght or longer, and not too too casual. White or off white.

Anyone have any ideas for some good websites to search? I'm just not having any luck!

Thanks!

I like the seccond and third one here too - not totally a fan of empire waist (although my gown is technically empire waist.)

What do you think of this one, jaysonsmom?

Firstly, congratulations! I have been snapping up the j crew sale dresses lately. I have the shorter version of the hope dress. Really nicely made and the fabric is heavier than you expect from silk (not the show every dimple and bra strap kind of silk plus it's lined).

I really really love this look too! It is more of a ceremonial type dress though, it would be great for the actual ceremony, but it's a little too "fancy" for post-ceremony partying IMO. Probably because I like to get down and party, and not have to worry about getting things wrinkly :cheeky:

All of these are lovely! I have the last dress "Sophia" and It's shape is beautiful and flattering. I think a quality material and brand (marked down to your budget) is the best way to go!

hanks everyone for all fo the suggestions!

I'm not looking for a bridal gown, I have that, but rather a short dress suitible for the after wedding party, going out on the town in Mexico (and in white so I can wear at home if we get married in the back yard.)

Based on that, I poked around David's and am currently tied with these 2:

Dress #1
http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product_Sho ... -All-Gowns

Dress #2
http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product_Chi ... -All-Gowns

Which do you all prefer?

Both are pretty.

I lean towards liking dress #1 better because of the front of the dress. I like the bit of a pleat it has in front. It is also a bit more sophisticated looking than the super floaty feel of dress #2.

Well. I bit the bullet and I ordered Dress #1. FI chose that one. My MOH chose #2. OY!
If I don't like #1 in real life I'll return it and get the other one.

Thanks again! I'll try and post some pictures when I get it next week. There is something really neat about this dress....

I know you probably heard this already, but have you tried any local bridal boutiques that have old dresses on the clearance rack? they are usually the ones that everyone tries on, but if it's on clearance and you can alter it, it doesn't hurt to look! The dress I fell in love with and will probably buy was originally 1,000$.. on clearance for 449$ and then... another 200$ off since they will not carry it anymore. :)) Fits me like a glove!

I didn't look at all the posts, but did you check out "White House Black Market"?

They have some really really cute white dresses.
