Hey all,

Looking for a quick price per carat comparison on HOF diamond.

I was quoted the following

Price per carat

1.20-1.39 carat size, F, vs2......12,700/carat

1.40-1.49 carat size, F, vs2......14,200/carat

Thanks for your help

Pricescope your diamond

But with size rangs like that...well pick an actual stone and people will be able to help you more. IMO both sound high.

Thanks for your quick reply Matatora........but I am a little confused by what you mean about pick a stone? Not sure if this helps but I am looking for a price on a Hearts On Fire Round Briliant. Also pricescoping a price only gives me a comparison to other hearts and arrow brands, not hof pricing. Correct me if I am wrong, thanks again.

H&A is the closest you'll come. The vendors here don't sell the HOF brand. You're paying more for the HOF brand name, kind of like the mark up when you go to Tiff's.

kaleigh thanks for your quick reply! I know that HOF brand is going to cost me more than other H&A brands that are listed on pricescope. I hear HOF can be 20 -40% higher than other H&A brands. That''s a decent spread, so does that give me room for negotiation with an HOF vendor? I guess past purchasers of HOF brand would give me a good idea that I am not paying hiigher than the typical HOF markup. Thanks again for your input all and keep them coming.

On average, HOF diamonds are about 15-20% higher than your average ideal cut diamond. Just curious, why an HOF?

Thanks for your responce irisheyes,

I know I want a brilliant round cut, ags of 0. from what I have been able to find in my area, Hearts on Fire is the only decent brand in my area that I am able to see in person. I understand that HOF carries a premium compared to online H&A''s, and I am willing to pay that markup as long as it is 15 to 20% above online H&A''s to be able to see and feel the diamond and the HOF setting before I buy. I just feel the prices I was quoted above seem much higher than a 15 - 20% markup compared to what I have seen from whiteflash and goodoldgold round brillant H&A cuts. Correct me if I am wrong. Thanks again.

I would call some HOF dealers outside your area. I went to my local HOF dealer and was given a quote (I don''t remember how much) for .75 tcw earring studs. I didn''t really care for the salesperson there, so I called the HOF dealer about an hour away, thinking if they had the earrings I wanted I''d make the drive (to avoid the obnoxious saleswoman in my local HOF dealer). Well, the other dealer quoted almost $2000 MORE than the price at my local jeweler -- for basically the same stats. I think the HOF dealers have pricing flexibility, so definitely be careful. It might be worth it to look at the diamonds at your local jeweler, but check around other jewelers within a 100-150 mile perimeter and make the drive if you can get it cheaper somewhere else.

Thanks for the help strmrdr,

So if I did this right I am looking at the chart that says "1.00-1.49 cts H&A cut Round: Average $/carat" and the F, VS2 shows an average dollar amt of 8,032. So it seems like I got a 57% markup based on average pricing of other H&A. Like I said I am willing to pay 15 to 20% higher for HOF, but not 57%........

Hmmmm, I am going to call other HOF dealers. If anyone there are any HOF owners out there, it would really help to get an idea of what you paid even if not the same color and clarity to get a better idea. Thanks again all!

okay..i''ll play.
i was quoted $4360 for a .676 g/si hof

it was a no brainer when i found a .654 h/si aca from whiteflash for $1465.00

thanks belle......I have been looking at whiteflash.....just love the idea of being able to physically walk in and see the diamond and setting all together. Just easier that way for me....but not at a 57% difference.....lol I am going to focus on calling around to other HOF dealers and see what kind of pricing they might have....I think the place that quoted me needs to come back to earth. I am open to any input or feedback....Thanks again for the quick responces all!

Most internet vendors will have a diamond sent to an independent appraiser before you buy so that you can see it in person. It typically costs the return shipping if you don't keep it, and the time for the appraiser. That might be a good alternative to the HOF premium. Talk to a couple of vendors and see what they can do. They might even be willing to send more than one for you to compare and choose if there are a couple you are considering.

Good luck!

Or use the several thousand $$ you would save to fly to Long Island and look at GOG''s diamonds in person.

Yep !

You want to see your diamond for 10 mins before buying?

Or would you rather have 10 days to look at it?

Great info and help all......I appreciate the feedback!
