Looking for advice on an eternity ring. Want to get it for a 15th anniversary present. It will be on the same finger as a RB 2.18 I SI1 GIA Ex Ex Ex (100% eye clean) in a simple knife edge tiffany setting.

How many carats total and or individual diamond sizes? - Don't want it to overpower the diamond. Maybe 3-4 ctw - .20pts each?
Vendors with the best prices?
Vendors that other Pricescopers have used and liked?
Vendors that give a pricescope discount?
Contacts at those vendors?
Best type of setting?
Any other advice?

My range is $3 - 4K. Would prefer the lower end.

Thanks in advance.

Hi OP, check the SMTB eternity band threads, many photos. I've done some checking on this, just a little bit and my rec is to stay in the 10-15 points for each stone. You can probably get away with 20 pointers at the maximum but may push your budget to the high range, but my guess is 15 might be perfect to let your solitaire shine. I would also try IDJ or ERD for this project asking for PS quality cut quality but be okay with G/H/I color and maybe Si1-Si2 clarity, especially if you are trying to hit $3k for the total. Just my 2 ct. investigating for myself for future reference.

Also, I would also do a medium height u prong in platinum or matching your solitaire band.

20 points is a stand alone band.

You want to stay to 10 points, fifteen max. I am wearing 15 pointers right now and that's the MAX size I would recommend for a band that is paired with an engagement ring.

I actually think 15 pointers is going to be to large to wear with an e-ring unless you are wearing a band in between. It will hit the e-ring and carve into the prongs. It will likely be higher than the e-ring shank as well. I like 10 pointers or lower to wear with an e-ring. 15 points and higher for a standlone band. I know Mom2boys had a WF 15 point eternity and she never wore it with her e-ring.

I had an eternity band with my original temp setting and it was 10 pointers and it destroyed my prongs. I would definitely try on different sizes with your ring so you can see what works with yours!

Yes, 15pts is too big to be worn comfortably/safely against your ER. I think an 8pt eternity band or smaller would be a better option.

Just for the record, I wear my 15point band as a standalone. Not with my ring.

Thanks for all the responses. Looks like it will be 10 pointers.

Any more recommendations on where to buy?

I bought my 2.10 ctw 10 point stones from IDJ. Gorgeous ring! I'm selling it but it has nothing to do with the ring, it just didn't work with my ering. If you do get a 10 pointer you will most definitely need a spacer. IDJ did a great job and worked with my budget. Good luck.

Here is a picture of what it looks like with a 1.8 RB in a knife edge.

Coming into the discussion from a different angle: when I first deliberated the band to go with my 3 stone, I had no clue how the stone size in the band would look. After days agonizing online here at PS, I finally landed on 2 pt stones, & love it. I'm so glad I didn't go any larger. I also have what I think would be called a micro pave (3 rows of melee) which I love but only in combo with the Harmony 2pt band & 3 stone, all 3 bands by WF. I don't like the micro pave alone by itself with the ering. For reference, both bands are 2mm in width.

For your ering, I would suggest you really think about possibly going smaller than 10 pt for your bands. I know the desire is to 'go big or go home' (speaking for myself) but in this case, it is such a fine balance with your single stone ering & the band you ultimately choose.

There is a solitaire SMTB thread that would also be helpful, to see how solitaires look with different bands. Check out this archive of helpful SMTB threads, one for wedding bands, & many others.

Here's a pic of my 2pt WF Harmony band along side my ering for reference, good luck with your choice, & please come back & do a SMTB thread!! :wavey: :wavey:

Where are you selling it (Diamond Bistro?)? What size is it? What color/clarity? Were they pricescope quality cuts? What are you asking? Thanks

I was selling it on loupetroop. I took down the listing temporarily. I am asking $1,800. It's 14k WG size 6. They are F/G color and SI clarity. All stones were selected to meet pricescope standards. Let me know if you might be interested.

My wife wears a 6.5. Too bad. Good luck with the sale.

Ok thank you :)

Do they charge more for pricescope cuts or do it as a service to this forum? If so how much? Thanks and sorry to bother you.

They do a charge more but it's still a reasonable amount. They are really great about working with your budget. I got my ring for under your bottom line budget if that helps.

Is it too bold to ask the cost? If so I understand. Also how long did it take for them to produce the ring? Thanks again.

A little, I will say that it was less than $3,000 :)
