Hi everyone,

I''ve posted once before, months ago, asking about palladium, but some things have changed and moved along and needless to say we''re at the stage where we''ll be buying a diamond and ring in the next couple of weeks (!!!). I''m trying to keep the cost to no more than $750 because the setting is about 3x that amount and so ridiculously petite and ornate that I feel putting a big rock on it would overwhelm it. I have eagle eyes, so while I have no problems with an SI1 in principle, it might make me a lot more comfortable to get a VS2...if only so I''m not sitting at my desk one day and spot a crystal staring back at me that will drive me crazy. I definitely want an AGS 0. The only place I saw anything that fits my criteria was James Allen (where they have a bunch of H-VS2s), so suggestions would be appreciated. My designer said I should call his "diamond guy," which I plan on doing, but I have a feeling it''s going to be a waste of time.

Here are the ones at JA:

Thanks!

just something to be careful about james allen - their "ideal" cut isn't always 100% accurate; just because it says it on their website doesn't mean the diamond is ideal cut - you need to confirm by looking at the grading report (that has the final say). i know it sounds stupid but we sometimes get lazy and think oh if we search by "ideal" cut only, all the diamonds the james allen search engine spits back must be ideal right? nope. just thought i'd warn you since you're still searching- it's happened to me a couple of times already and since then i vow never to use them. additionally, i hate using james allen because they have in the past tried to sell me shitty diamonds (like the sales guys actually "highly recommend this diamond for you" when the cut adviser shows "poor" or "fair" for everything)

Stone # 3 looks great to me. It scores a .9 on the HCA; it''s got an AGS Diamond Quality Document posted on line. The IS looks good. It looks like a great diamond for the price. Plus, it''s an H, VS2, better than the I''s and J''s and SI1''s that you''ll find for the same price on other sites. I worked with Darin at James Allen and had no problems. I''d recommend giving him a call.

Stone #1 looks good, too. Stone #2, I don''t like the IS.

The first and third are both excellent choices. Flip a coin.

Yep. They are even the exact same diameter, so that doesn''t help. Although, the .43 will save you twenty dolla!
