Looking for 3 stone band suggestions. (asscher + tsavorite)

I did my homework and got a .96 ct Asscher, F, VS1, good proportions, and excellent cut, for $3,817, from B2C.

I also did my homework on green gemstones, and discovered that tsavorite is awesome. My girlfriend loves green, and will love these as side stones.

I came up with a design with my local jeweler (see render below). I really like pear and trilliant cut tsavorites as the side stones.
They quoted me at a post tax price of $2,095 for the ring in platinum.

So I purchased the diamond from B2C, and they offered me a discount on the ring. They don't have the exact ring as I rendered it above, here is what they offered to make with tsavorite:

Now I'm not a huge fan of the tapering in the above ring, I am really looking for a minimalistic band so it showcases the nice gems. But they quoted me at $1,665 because I purchased the diamond from them, which seems to be an excellent price.

So here's my question: Do you know of a 3 stone design that works well with an asscher, where the jeweler will do custom work? (like replacing the side stones with tsavorite). Also how do you like the above linked ring? Or do you think I should just go and get the custom job done with my local jeweler. I am trying to stay under a total budget of $6000 here.

Any advice here is super appreciated! I am really trying to knock my girlfriend's socks off with this one!

P.S. Here is the diamond I got. Hopefully you all agree that it's a nice one! (I pricematched from this link below with b2c after I ordered)

From the picture posted the diamond looks like it has great potential, good spread and nice stats.

I think that short of getting an ASET to confirm performance you got it all down. I think you did a pretty good job there.

Regarding the setting.

Well, hmm. First, just because your lady loves green doesn't mean she wants green in her engagement ring. Does she have a pinterest page where you can snoop to see if she had pined rings she likes? Or a sister, cousin, aunt, best friend... someone you could ask about the green sidestones?

Many woman strongly prefer all white diamonds in their rings. STRONGLY. So I'd hate for you to go through all the trouble of doing this and have her not love it.

I don't know what B2C's custom work looks like.

I think there are many vendors that could do that for you. The one that best comes to mine is Wink Jones at High Performance Diamonds. He's great with colored stones. And his custom prices are very reasonable.

Also there is Engagement Rings Direct. They do amazing custom work.

I REALLY can't recommend snooping more into her specific setting preference enough though.

Ah yes, this is something I forgot to clarify. She told me that she would be happy if I got her an emerald as the main stone. I really appreciate the tradition and splendor of a diamond, so I came up with a design that marries (no pun intended) the two concepts. I wouldn't be considering the green stone unless I had heard it from her own mouth! I chose the asscher cut for the diamond due to it's similarities to an emerald cut.

I'm glad that you agree that it's a choice with potential! I get the diamond on Tuesday and can't wait to see it in person.

And I chose tsavorite due to it's durability, stronger sparkle, and it's exotic nature.

Oh and also! Thanks for the reply and concern! I'll look into your suggestion.

Tsavorite is a much better choice than emerald for an engagement ring.

I like the pears or the trilliants with the asscher. I think it's a good choice.

Here's a ring from JA with an asscher with pears (sapphires): http://www.jamesallen.com/recently-purchased-engagement-rings/three-stone/18k-white-gold-three-stone-pear-shaped-blue-sapphire-engagement-ring-item-16770-15987690

I like the proportions of the stones from B2C.

What I don't really like is the setting itself. It's too boxy underneath.

Can you ask them if they can modify the "baskets" so that the setting "gallery" looks more like this:

This will allow your lady to wear a straight wedding band next to the ring. If they CAN do that... I say go for it. That one above is a square (cushion) with pears by BGD. I think it's JUST RIGHT in terms of three stone settings for you. It's also got v-tip prongs to protect the point of the pears. Which I think is safer.

But I'd ask for the rendering (called a CAD) of the whole thing before hand.

Tsavorite garnet isn't an everyday ring stone; it is best to remove it before doing any housework, yard work and the like or it will chip.

Re: Looking for 3 stone band suggestions. (asscher + tsavori

Chrono: I was under the impression that Tsavorite was as durable as I can get as far as green stones go. Would you have an alternative suggestion? I am planning on getting the v-shaped prongs to protect the gemstone better.

Gypsy: What does BGD stand for? I'm new around here and don't know all the lingo.

The most durable green stone is green sapphire but they are typically rather grayish green. Chrysoberyl tends to have a strong yellow component. Tsavorite is the nicest green (to me) but in terms of durability, you will need to baby it a bit. There are ladies on Pricescope with tsavorite or spessartite garnet engagement rings and they take very good care of it (remove it for most activities). Even so, nicks and chips are par for the course. I'm not trying to dissuade you because I'm all for coloured stones. This is just more of a heads-up in terms of care for the ring.

Note that the durability scale is not linear but shaped like a J.
Diamond MOH 10
Sapphire MOH 9
Chrysoberyl MOH 8.5
Emerald MOH 7.5
Tsavorite garnet MOH 7.5

V or chevron prongs only protect the pointy tip. The entire crown area is still exposed. I have an occasional wear garnet ring and have already nicked a facet junction.

BGD = Brian Gavin Diamonds.

Thanks for the information, Chrono. I'll be pressing on with Tsavorite, but I will be sure to let her know that information about durability. I would be in the same boat if i went with the emerald that she showed interest in, and I think she will like the Tsavorite better.
