Hello,

I went to Helzberg Diamond today and looked at 0.5 carat Masterpiece and it''s about $3500. I only remember some info, it''s H, VS2, Symmetry: Excellent, Cut: Excellent, Polish: Excellent. It''s lovely but I felt like it''s overprice and I do not like the color that much.

Now I am looking for diamond around .5 carat with Color: F, VS1, ACA H&A cut in $3000 budget.

I found this one

0.47 D IF 1.1-EX
ex-ex-ex-vg 0
H&A 60.91% 55.43% 34.3° 40.83° 1.26 no ex ex no 5.05x5.02x3.07

What do you think? or could you help me find other options..
Thank you.

Well, if you''re happy with F VS1 and have $3k to spend, it seems a bit overkill/unnecessary to get D IF just to spend the extra cash. I''d either save money by going with an F VS1 (why not get GOG''s 0.51 F VS1 for $600 less?) like you said and have a nice weekend getaway instead, or get a bigger stone like this 0.71 F VS1 AGS0 with a nice pic for the full $3k (well, $2950 with the PS discount).

I''m not sure I''d base my color preferences on something from Helzberg. If it is cut poorly or even half-decently but not spectacularly, you are likely to see the color much more. Take a look around at some of the "lower" colored rings here -- the superideal cuts seem to face-up much much whiter.
