Hi

I'm pretty happy I found this site because I've been going a little crazy over the C's and the amount of options out there, so thank you in advance! This is going to be a bit long winded so you might want to grab your favorite beverage haha...

I'd like to find a diamond thats pretty clean and stays under by budget $6,250.

I've been over Blue Nile's site and this is what I ended up liking the best thus far...

Stats:

Carat weight 0.91
Shape Round
Cut Ideal
Color D
Clarity VVS2
Depth % 61.9%
Table % 57.0%
Crown 34
Pavilion 40.5

HCA 1.7

Here is what I like about it:

I like that its around 1 carat and feel anything larger than a carat would look monstrous on her hand. I think the size of this one will look great proportionally and it stays in the budget which helps too  ! I like the idea of a clean diamond so D color was great to find as well. As for clarity I don't have the best eyes and can hardy tell the difference between HD and regular TV but really like the idea of something clean and clear. As for the rest I plugged it into the HCA and it came out a 1.7 which seems good right?

Do you think this is a good fit or are there better options out there given the preferences?

Thank you!

The GIA that comes up with that stone says 35 and 40.8 for crown and pavilion. Is that the right link?

What size is your GFs finger?

You might be able to drop down to VS1/VS2 and save some money. It does have SBF. Are you going to have bluenile mount
it? You need to make sure that the SBF doesnt make the stone hazy (its probably ok but need to check).

Tyty333 Yes thats the one 35 and 40.8.

Her finger is between a 6 and a 6.5 I've taken two rings to a local store and one comes out 6 and the other almost a 6.5. Almost got caught the second time too!

What if you don't mind educating me is SBF? Would VS1 or VS2 change the way the stone looks to the eye at all? Does this change the way it sparkles at all?

Thank you!

From the top VS1 and VS2 should look the same (eye-clean). However, you still might be able to see something when looking at the
diamond from the side of the stone. That's usually not as important to most of us because when the stone is set you
pretty much only see the top with the exception of some u-prong type settings or tension settings.

SBF - is Strong Blue Fluorescence. The stone will have a pretty blue glow under a black light (well, pretty to me). However,
some (very few) stones are negatively impacted by SBF and it shows up in a hazy, oily look under strong sun. Its not an
attractive look. Also, SBF stones usually have a discounted price which I consider a win-win.

Thank you very much for the info! I don't mind the blue glow under a black light but would really be bothered by a haze or oily look in daylight.

I would not suggest shopping at BN, as you are unable to see the stones prior to purchase and they do not offer any of the light performance data that you need to make a decision (except on some Signature stones).

Look at other vendors.

You can drop in clarity and still be okay.

If you want to stay at a higher color, this option is better than the stone you had linked:

.888ct, E, SI1 (reach out to BGD to get all of the images / light performance data, as this is a new stone)
http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/diamonds/diamond-details/0.888-e-si1-round-diamond-ags-104074030018

It's the same size as the stone you had linked (look at diameter), will be equally eye-clean, but will include all of the light performance data you need to ensure that the stone is a winner. In addition, it's almost $1k less expensive than the stone you had linked!
