Hi everyone (I JUST joined).....

I am looking at the diamond (details below) from Abazias and I cannot believe the price for it, wondering if any of you see something wrong with it seems a bit hard to believe the price is so low. I have educated myself pretty well on diamonds even had a great opportunity for a Gemologist sit me down and show me what they look for and how they do their job so I am a bit unsure......

Thanks for helping me out!

It is an SI2 - Is it eye clean? Where are the inclusions? What type of inclusions are they?
Table of 72% is quite big. It may affect the look of the diamond in a not so pretty way.
AGA cert - I would stick with AGS or GIA whose grading is more accurate.

All the above = less $$$

In any case, just the info you posted does not tell me too much about how sparkly this diamond will be. To get a true test, you''ll need the an Idealscope or ASET picture. Ask Abazias if they will do so.

Thanks for additional information I will definitely ask for the pictures, I have never bought a diamond via the internet so I am a bit more hesitant that normal on what I will be getting.....

What is AGA? Definately get an ideal scope, it''s just too hard to guess on a princess cut without that IMO. And a sarin to confirm the measurements.

The more I think about it, the price is making me suspect a clarity enhanced diamond. Could this be the case?

Hey Gumba, I feel your pain... I have been going through a stone search as well. Ok the first big question is "Is it eye clean?" At the very least you want a stone where the inclusions can be hidden by a prong. Also, make sure there are no feathers (fractures) that break the base of the stone. Second, your ideal depth is 59-61.8% and the table should be 53-57%. Now a good diamond cutter can *tweak* these numbers to end up with a great stone, however, these numbers seem way past *tweaking* to me. From what I understand, a diamond that is cut too deep can exhibit the "nailhead" effect when you look into the table. Also since most of the weight of this diamond is going to be in the body, it will probably look slightly smaller than your average 1.5. You can google the average diameters of round stones and compare it to what''s on your cert if it''s important to you. I''m a newbie as well so take my above observations with a grain of salt...

Leo

thanks for ALL your insight, I just did a Live chat with Sales and even they are surprised that the diamond is 1/4 the cost of others at the same size and even he felt that something could be wrong with the diamond and will contact the seller which I guess is in LA. So I will shortly know and have pictures of it (Idealscope) and I can see what is going on. Learning about buying online.......

Leo,
The recommended table & depth % you posted is only for round stones. Other diamond shapes have their own recommended parameters. Well cut Princess cuts stones will have a larger table and depth than Round brilliants.

Come to think of it, there was another poster on here recently with the exact same scenario from Abazias. I believe they had put the wrong price down for it.

Have you checked out Goodoldgold, Whiteflash and James Allen? They are all very reputable online vendors also.

I have not checked any of those vendors I definiately will. THANK YOU

This is what I worried about when I started this adventure, but learning more and more every day.

I will post what I find out from the seller as soon as they send me the pictures or certification, but figuring the price is wrong too!

You''re welcome.

Any questions, just ask, we''ll help ya.

I dunno...something just smells fishy to me. A decently cut 1.5ct princess with E color and SI2 clarity should be more like $8000-9000. This is going for the price of a 0.75ct. Something isn''t right. You usually get what you pay for with diamonds from reputable vendors, and Abazias is a PS vendor...

WOW I totally skimmed over the word Princess in the top line of the post. I WON''T make that mistake again. I am so intently searching for my own round stone I guess I assumed everyone should be searching for a round stone..

Sorry!
Leo

My guess is that it''s a typo. And if that''s the case, then they won''t honor the price usually because they have a "typo" clause on their website somewhere.

I am still awaiting to hear back to see "what" the problem is from the company. I jumped on the diamond because it was selling for SO cheap given the grading of it understand not 100% perfect but still WOW. I would love to buy my girlfriend a 1.5 carrot diamond but that just a bit pricey for me I was originally thinking 1 carrot which would still be very nice.

Ditto that. I can't imagine a 1.5 carat going at that price, esp when it DOESN'T sound like a piece of junk! But of cos I hope we're wrong, cos then you'll be able to purchase your dream diamond at a comfortable price.

P.S. It's CARAT. Carrots are orange and the only addicts are rabbits. I'd gladly sell you FOUR carrot for $2k though! Deal or no deal?

Sorry for the mispelling error of carat........LOL! I knew that just typing too fast and thinking of food. ;-)

I got this from the vendor:

I was just able to reach the cutter about the diamond you requested. It
is Clarity Enhanced. This is the reason for the low price. We do not
sell these diamonds because they can crack or discolor over time. We
try to filter all of them from our site, but occasionally they slip
through. I''m sorry this one made it to our site.

Its not like I was not expected that kind of a response but hoping, oh well back to searching!

thanks everyone who responded!!!!

Mark
