Hi Everyone,

I''ve been browsing these forums constantly for the past few days. The plan is to propose here in the near future, and I''m kind of late finding a ring. I cannot miss this opportunity! That puts me in a sort of time crunch.

I hope to spend around $6000 and I am looking at modified square type diamonds. I really do like the Square H&A/Jubilee type cut, but have found that the cushion''s seem to be a bit easier to come by and cheaper.

Recently, I have been looking at James Allen and found a few settings that seem to match what I am looking for. She likes the halo type ring.

James Allen #1
James Allen #2
James Allen #3

I love the first, since the band comes up to meet the halo, but it is only for round. The second two are very nice, I especially like the double band, but I cannot see spending half of my money on a setting. Can someone point me in the right direction? I have had trouble finding halo styles that will work with modified square/cushion diamonds.

On a side note, I really like the Tiffany''s Ribbon ring and saw the job that ERD did, but figure that will probably take quite a bit of time?

Thanks!!!

ERD can usually make a custom ring fairly quickly especially if it's something they've done already. How much time do you have?

About 3.5 weeks. I will give them a call first thing in the morning, it's just hard to keep secrets! ;)

Also, any opinions on this diamond?

Should the thin girdle be a worry? From what I've read cushions can be somewhat difficult. I'm hoping to talk to someone tomorrow to see how they feel about it and if I can get some images.

I know it sounds funny, but if you are looking for a cushion with a halo, you should definitely call Mark and www.engagementringsdirect.com and just get him to source the stone and make it.

You won''t be disappointed, and it will save you the trouble of crunching numbers on cushions (which is really hard to do!!).

If you had lots of time, I''d probably still recommend Mark :-)

Thin girdle should be fine, but to help with a cushion we really need pics if possible.

Ditto, with your kind of time crunch you need someone who knows his stuff, give Mark a call and you won''t go wrong.

Good luck!

Both my engagement and wedding rings were from James Allen. I am very pleased with both of them.
