this is an egl usa graded 2.05 ct round brilliant cut, , D color, si2 , i ran the numbers thru the cut advisor

it came in at 5.5 , im told anything under 2 is desireable , but what do the terms mean specifically

Factor Grade
Light Return -Good
Fire- Fair
Scintillation- Fair
Spread
or diameter for weight- Good

Total Visual Performance 5.5 - Good - Only if price is your main criterion

To me, it means a pass. The diamond isn't going to sparkle that much. Your first stone sound like it was better cut.

What is your budget? Perhaps the lovely ladies here can help you find a stone.

oh yeah, the first stone was 1.3 but it was a l/m color so i had to pass, sigh ,lol.....................well, abazias has $11,100 of my dough...........but thats 10k for the stone, and $1,100 for the setting, i could go $11k , thats my ceiling.............and i was hoping for between 2.25 and 2.5ct , but with more variables like this cut advisor at my disposal, its looking like thats shooting too high...................i wont go under 2ct................a 2ct D color and nice cut thats eye clean, would be fine by me

altho, in thinking about it, im probably not going to find a well cut stone in a d color for that price.............btw, on that cut advisor

it has 2 settings for crown and pavillion , angle and %, the egl certs only give you %, does this still give an accurate calculation?

thanx julie, im going to let abazias sort thru a few more stones and run em thru ca and get opinions here, ill give em till end of weekend b4 i ask for money back, if they cant find me anything decent, ill follow up on suggestions here

i will, what do the cut terms mean? and does % give you the same answer as using degree?

Percents are not considered as accurate as angles for crown and pavilion measurements, but EGL always use percents to the best of my knowledge.

As for cut terms, don't go by vendor applied labels such as Ideal Cut, Premium Cut etc as this does not guarantee you a well cut diamond.

no, im running the numbers, having gog do a search for me and im looking on james allen, how do you apply the pricescope discount?

other than gog and james, where else would you recommend i look? blue nile and whiteflash?

Also, I don''t know if you''ve seen Lorelei''s cheat sheet for rounds yet or not. I''ll paste it here for your reference (hope you don''t mind Lorelei and please forgive me if you''ve already posted this for him elsewhere).

--------------------------------
depth - 60 - 62% - although my personal preference is to allow up to 62.4%
table - 54- 57%
crown angle - 34- 35 degrees
pavilion angle - 40.6- 41 degrees
girdle - avoid extremes, look for thin to slightly thick, thin to medium etc
polish and symmetry - very good and above
--------------------------------------

I found this stone over at Abazias that scores 1.3 on the HCA.

2.02ct G SI2
Depth - 62.4
Table - 57
Girdle - Medium, faceted
Fluorescence - None
Cutlet - None
Crown - 15%
Pavilion - 43%

http://www.abazias.com/database/NewDiamondInfo.asp?stock=56060170&src=builder . It''s still an EGL stone, though I don''t know which of their labs graded it as it doesn''t specify. Of course you''d want to make sure it''s eye clean to your satisfaction.

Good luck!

i told them unless its egl usa, im not interested,im not clear what it is when it just says egl, i just found this on james allen, scored a 0.8, yikes

Yes, tell them your expectations, if for example you don''t want to see any inclusions from any angle at close scrutiny, make sure you tell them that.

currently in talks with id jewelry about this one http://www.idjewelryonline.com/diamond_details1.php?id=17978493%20%20%20%20%20%20%20&shape=B&pricefrom=0&priceto=11000&caratfrom=1.00&caratto=10.00&colorfrom=D&colorto=J&clarfrom=IF&clarto=SI2&polish=ANY&cert=Any&symmetry=ANY&depthfrom=&depthto=&tablefrom=&tableto=&cut=Array&item_id=

first thing he asked was, how did you hear about us?, i said pricescope, he said oh, i have to give you a special price.........

i told him my money is at abazias, he said, i can beat their price easily..............lol..............see what happens

We need the crown and pavilion percents for this diamond if you can get them, I take it this diamond is EGL USA?

he sent me the cert on a diff one he has, 2.54ct............scores a 1.3 ...........only thing i dont like is the inclusion at 11 oclock and perhaps the h color on an egl usa cert

mmmmm, wish i could make this bigger, oh well

I can't read the proportions, could you post them for me please? As to the inclusion ask whether it is eye visible and if you are unsure, also find out what their return policy is so you can get an independant appraisal on the diamond within that time.

2.54ct si2 h color egl usa

yeah, sorry bout that,

depth-61.9

table-57

crown-14.3

pav-43.5

girdle-thin to thick faceted

cutlet-none

polish -ex

sym -vg

fluor-none

cut-ideal

i asked him if it is eye visible and what exactly it is, a fracture? etc.............then asked if it will come back an h on an appraise and what his price would be for me, awaiting reply

Thanks!

It scores well on the HCA so it is worth further evaluation. Let us know what the verdict is on the inclusion etc.

best i can do under 100kb

Well done! Lets hope that the vendor comes back with good news as to whether the diamond meets your expectations for '' eyecleanliness.''

well, my ceiling is 12k, he said he could do the stone for 11,5 and make the setting and everything come in at 12k...........but then, hes in ny and so am i, and thats another $1000 for sales tax................cant do it...............so sales tax screwed me, he did say the inclusion can be covered with prong and he thinks it would come back a true h..............this is yekutiel ......................hes sending me pics, ill post em when i get em

well, i got out of the sales tax, by having it shipped to richard sherwood,lol.........................yekutiel was very animate tho, once richard signs for the package its no longer his responsibility insurance wise.....................30 day return policy, which is good
