Hey all, I wasn't sure if I should ressurect an old thread or not, so I'm starting a new one. This is what I posted earlier - https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/looking-for-a-wedding-set-for-someone-picky.170682/#p3104916 . I'm in mostly the same situation, but after reading through all that and taking stock, I think I'm ready to spend a little more to get everything lined up. If the original budget managed to work, it'd be awesome, but it might not. I'm hoping this time maybe if around $6k could get pretty much everything I'm looking for, it could probably work.

If you don't want to go back through the old thread, here's a quick summary of what I'm looking for...

Probably a princess or cushion cut
1ct
Best light I can get for the money
Eye clean
Platinum pave setting similar to here -

I really appreciated all the help I got last time, so I hope you don't feel like I'm jerking you around or anything, it's been a mess trying to figure this all out. Thanks for reading and any advice you have!

Oh, and does anyone know how long these frequently used sites take to get a ring out to you? It'd be a nice to have to be able to get it before the 30th since we'll be going on a trip of the jul 4th week, but it's not a dealbreaker if it can't happen then, I know I'm pushing it on that.

Do you have any other pics of the setting? To me it looks like two rings, with the ering being a pave cathedral type setting. Is that how you see it too?

Ok some questions for you to narrow down your choices - I didnt' see this info on the other thread:

1. Gabriel & Co have some similar settings on a budget - are you looking to include the wedding band in the $6k budget? If she's picky, would it be ok if the setting isn't 100% the same, esp. since that one pic is the only one we have to go on?

2. Princess or Cushion are VERY different cuts - has she seen both in person? I think many people have seen cushions online only and think they are similar. Cushions have many different variants, they are not as "standard" as princess cuts.

Assuming $1500-2000 for just the engagement setting - that leaves you $4000-5500 for the stone. Your best bet is to call up IDJewelry in NY and give them your requirements they love working on a budget.

Some settings - do they look the same? All around $2500 MSRP = budget about 20% less with the IDJ discount.

This is the closest band I found - at $2500 - but I'm sure IDJ can find you something closer - they work with a ton of manufacturers:

She is picky... so I can't say whether a similar one would be good or not, but I'm certainly open to suggestions. I'll have her look through some of these and see what she thinks.

Sorry for not clarifying, yes the wedding band is the crossover type one, and the engagement ring is just a pave single row. I'm just talking about the engagement ring right now.

I'll suggest some stones that might be worth taking a look at...I'm guessing that your setting will be around $2k.
You would need to get aset images to check on the light return. JA will give you up to 3 free of charge. You really
need to decide if you want a princess or a cushion.

These all have pretty big tables which arent my favorite but still look like the could be nice stones depending on asets

Re: this cushion cut - http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/I-VS1-Ideal-Cut-Cushion-Diamond-1295005.asp

So how much can I trust the dealer's word if I want to ask questions? I've read that "I" and below color may not be good on a cushion cut (especially since I'd plan to set in platinum), so I'd want to ask about the color. I'd also want to ask if the stone is eye clean, and how well it reflects light. These seem to be partially subjective though, and I obviously don't want someone to just tell me what I want to hear. Are there any other questions I should be asking? Would getting an ASET image be helpful here?
