Hello,

I would like to start searching for a fancy/intense/vivid yellow diamond for a right hand ring. I''m thinking about .3-.7 or so carats, and I''m open to princess, emerald, asscher, and cushion cuts. I have no idea how to start searching for something like this, I''ve checked a couple of sites like Whiteflash and I haven''t found anything at all. Does anyone have a suggestion for where to find a diamond like this? Or any sites with detailed yellow diamond information? Thanks much!

Hello! I'm not sure who you've talked to already or what sites you've been on so forgive me if I'm giving you information that you already have.

David of Diamonds by Lauren is very knowledgeable about colored stones and he is always a pleasure to talk with and learn from. (http://www.diamondsbylauren.com/)

Scheiner also has a GREAT selection of stones (http://thediamond.com/), and Michael is a wonderful resource.

Icestore has quite a few too (http://www.icestore.com/) but I've never spoken to anyone there personally.

ETA: Blue Nile is now carrying a selection of colored stones, but I think the photos you see are all "samples" and not the actual diamond.

You seem very flexible about the details except for the color intensity. For their size, any of these will be very costly stones due to the color. There are vendors, such as the one already noted, who have these from time to time, but the selling iof colored gems, including colored diamonds, over the Internet has been difficult as color communication is imperfect.

You should also consider synthetic diamonds, such as those made by Gemesis. They have a few dealers around the USA and their color intensity is very strong. The pricing will allow you even wider choice and, of course, they are not rare.

I never have seen one of the fancy viivids that I didn''t like, but they are not all the same. You will need to see them in person before deciding to buy.
