Looked at another OEC with GIA; thoughts on these specs?

No photo to share since I couldn't get a good shot with my camera.

2.1
VS2 (showing just a small cloud at the edge and a indented natural (?)
Color M
8.1X 8.27 X 5.08
Polish and Symmetry Good
Fluorescence Faint (I haven't seen any GIAs on the OECs that noted any fluorescence before this one)

table 48%
Depth 625

Priced at $14.3K

They still had the one without the GIA so I could compare them and this one definitely had a better cut with more faceting visible from the top because of a smaller table.

This one is pushing our budget over so am debating if I want to do that or keep looking.

Potentially the numbers are fine, but it's really nearly impossible to say anything about an OEC without a photo. Any chance you can go back and get a snapshot? Or have the vendor send you one?

I'll see if they can send one. I couldn't get a decent worthwhile shot with my phone or camera. Not sure how you guys manage!

This diamond is also listed on Good Old Gold (as a diamond that is not in house) and looks to be rather nice. But as has been said many a time, with old cuts, every diamond is a little different and what appeals to one person may not appeal to you. So asking what is good in an old cut is very subjective and only your eyes can really tell you.
Also, you may want to enquire with Good Old Gold as to the price (I have!) and I know it is about $3000 less than the price you have posted.

No red flags so far.

Thank you Zoe! I looked at OWD, not at GOG. That is a huge difference and it would bring it in under budget.

I want to support local businesses like the store I've been working with but that's a significant markup on their part.

For others reference here's the stone: http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/11124/

I'll look at their other diamonds as well.

I am having a love/hate relationship with Pricescope :twirl: I am starting to research myself to death. I also saw this diamond and it's a color grade lower than the one I looked at today but much greater spread and a smidge better clarity

The M was more than white enough for me; I'd imagine N wouldn't be too different. And oddly I'm a bit worried the larger stone will feel too big to wear all the time.

*editing: I found their guarantee; I may order the 2.57 carat directly so I can look at it in person*

Hi ming,

A little late here. You posted on my thread so I looked back at your old threads and found this :P If you are still interested in this stone it's in one of GOG's videos available here http://vimeo.com/m/80002982

I hope that's helpful!

Wow, thanks Lemon! I think the videos are so useful better understand what is what with these old stones. Of course now looking at the 2.1 (#2) compared to the 3rd OEC it's not longer as appealing! I didn't notice a dark table when I saw it but I'm so new at this that I think it was simply better than the other 4 or 5 that I saw. I have a feeling that 'Maudy' is going to go with that 3rd one!

I love that GOG takes the time to do these videos. I'm hoping I'll have time to devote to moving towards purchasing one in the near future.
