So I totally did NOT need to spend this money. But I loved the stone in the most recent gemscoop. I think it was the most recent. It was in November I think. I missed out as usual (lol) and inquired about more rough. Lucky for me, not so lucky for my wedding fund, there was more rough available. YAY! So I just got the photo from Jeff and the stone should be on it's way any time.

My guess is an Afghan tourmaline? Any more stats on the size and carat weight? I like the blue green colour and complexity of the cut.

Umm. . . yeah I suppose it is. He calls is a Seafoam Tourmaline, but I see on the listing of the original tourmaline in the gem scoop that the origin is Afghanistan. I can't believe I didn't post specs! What kind of PSer am I?? :( Geesh.

2.07 ct. and 7.3 mm :) YAY!

Oooohhhhhh! Yummy. Good move to ask about rough -- love the color & the cut is really interesting.

PSers generally call it a seafoam tourmaline because of the pastel blue green colour resembling the colour of the foamy water near the shores but it is usually referred to as Afghan tourmaline because these tourmalines from Afghanistan are more often than not, this particular hue. Thanks for the stats; looks to be a good sized stone too!

This is the stone that led me to ask for the rough: https://www.pricescope.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=151905

Is the cut of mine more than just a cushion cut? lol. I asked for something square. . . we talked about asscher or a square version of the stone I linked to above. When Jeff was ready to cut he asked me if I decided. I couldn't so I told him to surprise me. He said he chose the square version of the gemscoop stone because he felt it suited the rough better and brought out the best of the material. I just assumed this was a cushion cut or variation thereof. . . I can't wait to see it in person.

Cushion usually just refers to a square outline with rounded corners. However, because the facet pattern is different from the usual brilliant cushion cut, you can consider it a modified cushion cut.

Ohh that is so gorgeous! Do you have plans for it yet?

No I don't have plans yet. Nothing will be done till after my wedding in April. lol Can't afford it. :) I also want to see it before I decide anything. But generally I like ring. .. white gold rings. .

That's a neat cut. It's must be new for him since I haven't seen him cut that facet pattern before.

Uppy's tourmaline (the inspiration) is extremely similar--I think the only real difference is that Uppy's is slightly rectangular and HB's is more square.

Love the color--I can't wait to see what you think in person! I'm also awaiting a "seafoam" tourm!

[drool]...worth it, you'll wear this stone often, I think! congrats. :appl:

Ooo I really like the cut on that and what a gorgeous color!

Hoofbeats, this stone is so beautiful! I love the color! I remember Uppy's and considered too, asking Jeff if he had any rough left but I had other projects going on.

Please post more pics when you can!

That is one absolutely, drop dead, gorgeous stone!!!! :appl: :appl: :appl:

I love the color, and because it is on the light side, it will look absolutely phenomenal when set

Great color. Love the slightly chunky facets.

Yes it is the square version of the stone I linked to.

Yes it is light and I didn't even think about how great it will look set due to that. They do tend to darken some with setting. I can't wait to get it in person! YAY. I will certainly post pics at that time. I try to be a good PS member and pics are a MUST! lol

Beautiful color. I bet you'll be happy.

Gorgeous, Hoofbeats!!!! I really love the outline and facets of your piece. Can't wait to see your pics of it!

Although, I'm sure he would kill me for mentioning this, but Jeff almost gave your rough away . . . purely accidental, of course. He ended up cutting a chunky cut corner radiant for me out of the similar rough and I just picked it up today and it is smashing! AGL certed, too!

How did he almost give it away?

Are you posting pics?

He had invoiced me for a stone that would cut an asscher, and then realized about 2 weeks later he had already promised it to you. The piece he reserved for me cut a 6.92 x 6.91 radiant that's not at all deep enough to cut an asscher. So, although I was initially disappointed I couldn't get the asscher, after receiving the tourmaline, I realized it would have looked soooo close to my aqua asscher that it may have been like having 2 of the same ring.

I'll take some pics this afternoon when I pick up the set ring. No surprise, it's going in a baguette setting.

Oh my! What a story! :) You already have the ring SET? I'm still waiting on the stone. Close to your Aqua? Is it that blue? I can't wait to see pics!
