After months of telling my boyfriend that I like Old European/Transitional cuts he spoke to his jeweler/friend about it. His jeweler was very insistent that OECs usually have chipped girdles, lower color, etc, etc and that I'd be happier with a H&A. Well despite the warnings he found one for us and had it brought in! He was very honest in saying how he was pleasantly surprised and that its beautiful!! So I am now the proud new owner of my very own diamond :D It will most likely be set in a simple solitaire (white or yellow gold TBD) but for now here are pics of the diamond. And y'all aren't kidding about diamonds being hard to photograph! This is the best I could get today...

EGL graded 1.52 G VS2 (which is fine with me because we were looking for something in the I SI1 range and thats what we think it really is)

It looks so much bigger than a 1.5 on your hands.. And it's not even set yet!! Wowza!

Beautiful!!!

Beautiful. Congratulations.

I love transitionals, too! It is beautiful!!!

Since you are planning on setting it in a simple solitaire, I would consider sending it to Brian Gavin first so they can do a little girdle makeover since part of the girdle is very thin. You probably don't want to take a chance and get chips in the girdle. I think a couple of people here have sent old stones to Brian to do a little work before setting them. They did a recut for me and did a great job!

Wow, sooooo pretty!! I love it!

Beautiful OEC!!

Really pretty stone! Good job sticking to your guns and getting what you wanted! I hope the process helped to open the jeweler's
eyes!
