Alabama 31 Texas 20

Sweet!! Although, I think if we can put up 20 points against them, we can get more!! *gulp* I hope.

I''m not good at ALL at predictions, so...I''ll just be optimistic and say Texas A LOT, Alabama NOT a lot!

Who''s watching?

Good freaking lord.

This will forever be known as the Championship Game played by the freshman quarterback with 124 yards to his name.

I''m sick.

I really feel for the senior Horn players.

You gotta question - is this what you get (a freshman QB) when you push the stats on your senior QB (Colt) so the numbers look great for a Heisman ???? just wondering
( Shipley makes a TD !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! )

Yowza... sorry for the people that paid thousands of dollars to travel for this.

Have a few friends that are there, I''m watching for their facebook updates after the game.

I''m getting very upset, they better not mess this up!

I turned down some seats - so glad I did.

at least it''s not a total blowout considering the loss of Colt.

I''m still ticked at the coaching from Texas that our back up QB is so green !!!

I really wish he''d pass to someone other than Ingram. Like, were is Julio Jones?

Honestly, I think the Longhorns would have won this one - with Colt.

I''m so sad that Colt was robbed of his final game, and final moment of Longhorn glory. Had he played, the outcome could have been different. We will never know.

I''m not as devastated as I thought I would be by a loss. After all, our second string QB helped score 21 pts, something people probably didn''t expect even if Colt had played. That said, Alabama doesn''t need to be AS proud as they think they "deserve" to be.

Congratulations to Alabama. MUCH more congratulations to Colt McCoy, who was one of our best QBs. He''s such an amazing guy!

I''m a proud Longhorn fan, and despite the outcome, I''m proud of the players, coaches and the whole team.

Hook ''em!

Just asking, but any specific reason they shouldn't be?

Would you be less proud had Mcelroy been taken out and you all held out for the win in the last few minutes?

Alabama did not play their best game obviously, but neither did UT even without Colt. Honestly, UT had that game for the taking and they threw it away, as a team. Though he had 2 touchdowns when they really needed them, Shipley probably had, IMO, one of his weakest showings of the entire season. The receivers alone should have accounted for at least 2 more touchdowns had it not been for deflected balls and completely missing passes thru their hands.

I think they COULD give credit where credit is due. They had to play hard. Both teams had to play hard. They played just as hard with their original team.

Had their QB been injured instead, I would be happy for the win but acknowledge that they did a great job due to their circumstances. I surely wouldn''t be throwing horns down in some kind of glorious victory (if I was on their team). I''d be OFF THE WALLS had we won beating their starting team that helped them get to the Championship. I''d be greatful to win against a team that could put up a fight with the second string, but humbled by the fact that it nearly didn''t happen!

Then you just might be the most grateful Horns fan I have ever met.

If it comes out that Colt wasn't put back in, in order to possibly "save" his future professional career, will you be mad?
(ETA: This comment was made by the announcers at the end of the 3rd quarter.)

No actually. I'm glad. He's SUCH a great guy and leader and I hope he has a successful career in the NFL. Our little freshman QB started making his own legacy last night. I can't wait to see him play.

Also, at the end, Colt said he couldn't even feel his arm. That's so sad!

Regarding being a greatful longhorns fan...I'm just so freaking happy to be an alumni for a team with a leader like Mack Brown and Colt McCoy. They're just so positive. It might come across as something else to other people, but, it makes me happy.

Proud to be a longhorn!!

This was definitely a sad ending to the season and Colt''s college career.. I''m excited to see what Gilbert does next season.

Hopefully they will practice throwing at the chest, and not the knee caps.

Did anyone else notice that he throws from a really high position and it seems like most of his passes, that weren''t down field, were on a downward angle? Is he a really tall person?

hehe. Yeah, I noticed that. Reminded me of when I QB for flag football! LOL! He''ll develop. I remember shaking my head when Colt started playing...and now...you know.

Meresal, you didn''t direct this at me, but I''m with BBO. I watch a lot of sports, and games where the other team doesn''t play at full strength always feel like hollow victories. For instance, when my basketball team has beat the Lakers without Kobe playing, it doesn''t really feel like a victory. Nice, sure, but lacking. If McElroy or Ingram had gone out, I would feel sick. That isn''t how I like to win.

You''re right, Texas didn''t play its best. There were several passes that I just couldn''t believe weren''t caught. I have to believe there is something exceptionally demoralizing about losing your football leader on the first drive of the game, so I''m just impressed they rallied the way they did. I mean, Gilbert had more yards than McElroy and Ingram combined. But he made some mistakes that were exceptionally costly in terms of points (the shuttlepass for a TD, fumbling on the 3 yard line).

This isn''t to say that Alabama shouldn''t be excited - a national championship is an exciting thing. Saban''s defense gets credit for making turnovers happen. But if you think about how this game was being framed - where Colt was the key to Texas''s championship hopes - I think to pretend this was a quality win is a bit ridiculous.

I really try to be fair about sports, so I don''t think this is sour grapes, but I suppose it could be.

Yep, I agree. We didn''t play our best. That''s for sure! I''m not saying it was a pretty game, but it was a fight. Gilbert has to develop his skills, and the rest of the team will learn how to play with him. Our whole season had been shaky, but, sillyberry said what I was thinking, a lot better than I could. :)

N/M... I wasn't against BBO. I was simply asking a question.

For the record (and since that is all that matters when you look at the books), a win is a win, and each and every one of those Alabama players has the right to be proud of the fact that they left that stdium with the National Championship.

Yes, there are people that are going to be jerks about it, a FAN is short for FANATIC. They are crazy people that live and die by the colors of their Alma Mater. But if you look around your own school you could point out just as many that would be saying the same things about Alabama, had UT come away with the win last night.

That was all the point I was trying to make.

Oh, I didn''t think you were *against* BBO. I was just trying to explain my perspective on things. I agree that Alabama players have a right to be proud - they took home the crystal football. I still think if you look back on BCS Championship Games, though, this one is going to be viewed as probably the least exciting win since the (awful) BCS started. It would be the same if Alabama had lost a major player. Or if Tebow had gone down in last year''s game and Oklahoma had won. Or, in a slightly different context, the Steelers/Seahawks Super Bowl from a few years ago. The Steelers have the win in the books, but I still have no idea who really won because of the terrible officiating.

My bff is a born and raised Tide fan, so I rooted for them all season. If they were going to win, I wish they had been able to win in a great game. This just feels so meh.

And my school didn''t have football.

i feel sorry for Boise St cuz they won''t get a shot at the title.
