I won the above ring from LOGR for $172.

I emailed them asking about the cost of ring resizing (from a 7 to a 9.75) and their reply was ''$39 for the resizing and a $30 non-refundable labour fee'', is this standard? The $39 is fair enough for the extra cost of gold, but the labour fee seems abit far fetched.

I was under the impression that the labour fee was only involved when you wanted to upgrade the gold or diamonds, or size of the basket (if the stone was larger or smaller than the standard size). Am I mistaken?

Your input is appreciated :)

Thats a little odd. I have always been quoted 30$ for any modification, and that 30$ is non refundable. Not 30+30.

Maybe they are charging extra to make up for the offer price? Not cool, but a possibility.

Maybe they mean its 39 dollars, but 30 of that 39 will be non-refundable?

are you changing anything about the ring like changing the gold, diamonds, etc? If so it would make sense for them to charge more for those things.

for sizing, they only charge more if its outside the scope of what they advertise. They generally charge 10 dollargs to size between 7-9. Some rings are smaller than that so it could be different for some auctions.

If your ring finger falls outside of the normal ring size (less than 6, more than 9) that may be what they're charging for.

But the best thing to do is ask them why and find out what their standard ring size range is for the ring.

Thanks for the replies :)

Rockhugger, I was beginning to think that may be the case (others have mentioned this).

There is no diamond or gold upgrade - just a straight resizing (I wouldn''t have thought 2.75 sizes would be a huge deal, perhaps it is?)

Have sent him an email, so will see what he says :)

On a side note, is his resizing spot on or more on the generous side?

I think there's a range of sizes where 9 is the maximum where they will charge you only $10 for the cost of resizing. I know Charmypoo, who has tiny tiny fingers (I think size 3.5) has to pay more for sizing too.

ETA: I see Arcadian mentioned it already. Thanks!

Sizing more than 2 sizes up can make the ring too thin. I think most of his rings are size 7 so two sizes up and two maybe 3 sizes down is about what they can do without warping/thinning the setting too much.

Sizing for me is pretty spot on. I do get my rings with a little wiggle room for the days my fingers swell up. These days I almost always have them remake my rings to 18K so always pay a bit extra.
