At work right now, so I don''t have pics yet. It''s really gorgeous though! I hope my asscher fits in it. Now I have to find a jeweler to set the stone. Any ideas how to find a good one?

I''m glad you''re happy with the setting! Did you end up upgrading the diamonds, and is it a prong or bezel setting? Cant'' wait to see your photos! If you''re willing to say what city you''re in (or close to), perhaps someone can offer a jeweler recommendation.

It is bezel and I did upgrade the diamonds because my asscher diamond is a 0.8 I VVS stone.

I am located near Chicago in Lake County.

I can say that TL has used Merry Richards in Oakbrook several times ( I think they have another location too, just can''t remember where), and BEG has had several pieces set at Windy City Jewelers on Wabash. Hopefully a few others will chime in!

ooo Merry Richards has a location close to my work! I''ve contacted them for a price!
Thanks!

Ooooh I can't wait to see it. Can you link the setting you bought? I'd also like to know the dimensions on the size of the stone and whether or not their standard LOGR setting worked well or if your jeweler had to modify much. Do you have a thread on the stone? I assume you bought it as is and did not have LOGR adjust it. So many questions because I have decided after my plat band my next project is a gemstone asscher.

Yes, I use Merry Richards quite a bit. They know me pretty well

. I use their Glenview store (which is closed on Sundays and Mondays), but they rotate the benchpeople to and from their Oakbrook store.

I''m contacting the Glenview store. Do you happen to mind sharing what they charge for setting a stone?

It''s the same "Legacy" setting that a lot of PSers have. I did have them modify it to bezel set and asscher stone of 5.22 x 5.34. I also had the diamonds upgraded. So the whole setting cost me about $375.00

The stone I''ve had for a few years now. It''s a nice generic asscher stone that we purchased from when James Allen was dirtcheapdiamonds.com. It''s 0.80 carats and really pretty but the setting I had it put in at the time is a setting I really dislike. So I''m resetting it into the LOGR setting and maybe I can sell the current setting.

Most standard logr settings are 6mm, 7mm or 8mm- at least that is MO. If you have a stone that is often those dimension even a little, especially if you want bezel set you will HAVE to have logr customize the ring for you. When it is prong set you have a little more wiggle room.

I sure do, they have a store in Glenview as well, but it may cost a lot to set it as they do charge a lot to replate with rhodium if it's a white metal. My guess is that they would charge at least $120 to set, but you can ask. Setting a diamond isn't rocket science, so you can ask around at several reputable jewelers in the area. Always look at bbb.org for recommendations. There's another jeweler in Northbrook on Dundee Road called AJ. Lee jewelers that does very good work too, but I've never used them. I do hear they're not as pricey as Merry Richards though.

Re: LOGR

Jax - I'm interested to know how the fit is for your asscher in the modified setting please? LOGR are usually very good with modifications BUT some of mine have been a few .mm off. Thankfully they've only been prong settings so not an issue but would have been had it been a bezel setting. Did you give them h x w x d x corner to corner measurements????? Just wondering for reference how to ensure they get it right!

LD, the OP posted in another thread that the LOGR setting was too big for her asscher :( [https://www.pricescope.com/communi...e halo, you could still put a round in there.

Re: LOGR

Thanks Cell. I thought this was a new thread but I see it dates back to last year - oooops!

What a shame about the LOGR but unfortunately I'm not surprised. :(sad

Jax - would love to see the stone/setting anyway. If you're out of the return period with LOGR you may be able to convert the setting to prong set without too much problem - and then you have an excuse to find a stone that fits!
