I was just about to purchase a ring when I realized the setting I wanted had the BN logo engraved on it. How common is this? How safe is it to remove? Should it be a deal breaker? If so, where should I look for a band that is not engraved?

Do you mean inside the band? Most rings have a hallmark stamped inside them, from the designer, as well as what kind of metal they are.

My ering has Scott Kay, PD950 and the other has the Whiteflash logo and PD950 inside it.

The BN has the engraving on the outside or inside of the band? If on the outside, that sounds odd. . .can you post a photo and/or link?

All my rings have engravings on the inside stating metal, and my ArtCarved band is stamped with that on the inside.

Yes, inside the band. So this isn''t a drawback for anyone? A friend of mine recently got engaged and so I checked with him and he said "There is most definitely not anything stamped on the ring. I would not be okay with that. I’d be very very surprised if they do that though. I’m surprised I never saw anyone complain about that on pricescope. Seems like something that would bother more people. That’s annoying, and I’m sure frustrating for you." So this raised a major red flag for me and thought I would bring it to you all since you know far more than I do.

Nope, most brands should have a hallmark stamp on their rings. It says something and that is that the company is proud of it's product, I would be more worried if it is not stamped.

Doesn't bother me at all. It doesn't harm the structural integrity of the ring, I can't feel it, I can't see it unless I look, and it guarantees that my rings are from the companies they are supposed to be from, and made from the metal they are supposed to be.

Well that''s good to hear. I guess my concern, then, is if BN is a reputable enough company for me to be proud of a ring from them that I give to my future fiancee to wear for the rest of her life with their name inside?

I'm confused. If you consider it reputable enough to buy the ring from in the first place, why would the stamp bother you?

I wouldn't hesitate to wear something from Blue Nile. In fact, my wedding necklace was from them.

Haha well put. I guess it''s just that there''s something that feels almost taboo about buying it online. But I''m buying online because I know it''s where I can get the best deals, and I trust that Blue Nile is one of the best - if not THE best - online.

I very much appreciate your input!

I got my engagement ring from BN. I love it. I think the stamp, as others put it says you did your homework and realized where the best place is to get a great quality ring from. The stores rarely carry the quality that these online vendors do (BN, Whiteflash, etc), so I think it should be something to be proud of. And I agree with the others, if it isnt stamped I would be more worried because there isnt any record of where its from or what the metal is, etc.

my current ss ring also has the logo as well as the type of metal (PLAT) engraved on the inside, my two previous settings only had the type of metal engraved inside, i obviously love my current setting more, and am proud to have the ss logo inside

in real life, the logo is not very large at all, i even had a personal inscription added to the inside and the logo is hardly noticeable next to it, i wouldn''t worry about it at all
