Hi everyone. I've narrowed done my search to 2 rings...

One from Whiteflash

http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-2728081.htm
http://www.whiteflash.com/engagement-rings/diamond-settings/legato-sleek-line-pave-diamond-engagement-ring-422.htm
5750.00 total..

One local...

.75 no cert but local jeweler gives it a G vs1.
.15 pave type 6 prong tiffany setting.. They are going to take the band ( setting ) and pop out a diamond then set the .75 in there
It looks amazing in person..in all light. Took it outside in the shade still sparkles and looked great..
I know the owners of the store, not real close but enough to trust them. The sales lady has been very helpful...one thing also, I was able to bring my GF in and she liked the ring very much...
...total for all 4K.

So the confusion continues :)
do I save the 1750.00 go with one I know my GF liked no cert...
or go with the one online I havent seen...There are pros and cons to each and Im pretty torn.
The local store will upgrade me also with the purchase price if I decide to ever upgrade.
I have loked at t through a loupe and it looks great. They had a 1.1 carrot that didnt come close in brilliance or clarity for alot more in $

The online ring is a stretch for my budget but it will work...the local ring is more inline for my current budget.

Im going to go look at it again in the am..any pointers on what to look for or ask ?
Thank you.

What I can guarantee you is #1, the uncertified stone is not as well cut as the one from WF, and #2, it likely is not a G VS1. Because let's face it, why would they sell a diamond for $4000 when they could easily sell it for $6000 if they just bothered to send it to get a GIA cert?

I wouldn't consider an uncertified stone from a jeweler under any circumstances. If I really loved it, I would tell them if they send it to GIA, then I'd consider it once I see the GIA report.

I would buy the WF stone, though, because I don't like to play games that usually result in the customer being cheated. Trust in reliable grading only. Not only that, the setting at WF will be made for your stone and in her ring size as opposed to them removing a stone from an existing setting at the local place.

Never buy a diamond of that size without a lab report. It is never a good value. Don't be fooled by the apparent savings, you are not comparing apples to apples with the WF stone.
