I've spent the last week trying to learn about diamonds on the internet, but I still don't know much of anything. Anyway, I think I've narrowed it down to a few choices for an engagement ring, but I'm really at a loss and maybe I'm way way off here so please help me. Here's what I've got:

$4327

$4960

$4978

Please help.

You can take the numbers off those reports, and enter them into the HCA cut adviser tool, which is under the Tools tab at top of page. Look for a score of 2 or less.

If you want to strictly look at hearts & arrows ideal cut rounds, here is the tight range of specifications / dimensions to look for:
depth - 60 - 62% - although my personal preference is to allow up to 62.4%
table - 54- 57%
crown angle - 34- 35 degrees
pavilion angle - 40.6- 41 degrees
girdle - avoid extremes, look for thin to slightly thick, thin to medium etc
polish and symmetry - very good and above

note - with crown and pavilion angles at the shallower ends ( CA 34- PA 40.6) and steeper ( CA 35- PA 41) check to make sure these angles complement in that particular diamond - eyeballs, Idealscope, trusted vendor input - check as appropriate!

Diamonds are clarity-graded face-up. Always ask the seller if the inclusion can be seen from the side, or the bottom, or at some tilt, if that is important to you.

The ASET image is used to check the diamond for leakage.

Numbers are fine on all of them. Need pics and/or Ideal Scope.
