I ... hate to admit it, but I sort of *like* that first one. Not in the same way I like a proper diamond, but ... the milkiness is unusual. Lorelei, do you have an entire folder full of these?
Me too, I think it''s kinda charming in its own... errr, foggy? way.
3.gif
No, seriously, I do.
9.gif

Lorelei, the ones you posted are deeply disturbing though! lol (esp. the first one! Looks like a light bulb. A very broken one.)

Ok, back on topic, I''m with jewelerman - no ering at all?

I''ll guess "a colored gemstone" because maybe she''s had her fill of diamonds (impossible as that sounds).

Lorelei, those rings made me laugh (a nervous, horrified laugh) and then feel a little sad. I hope nobody actually got one of those. I can''t even imagine how the recipient might react.

So tonight I just got back from spending the evening with Gabi Tolkowsky and his wife. She was wearing 3 stacked pave bands on her left hand, but what do you think his wife''s engagement ring looked like? Keep in mind she told me the story of how the first diamond he gave her was very small, but this was her latest upgrade.
Im going to guess that she wasnt wearing an engagement ring...just the bands.
23.gif
+1 I''m thinking no e-ring either, just the bands...

I''m going to guess a honker of an RB with tapered baguettes...

Slightly off-topic but hopefully a quick question - the diamonds like poor lopsie fugs and the two that Lorelei posted, why do people even bother to facet them? Are they like "practice" diamonds for cutters? The salt and pepper one with the lint accents especially - clearly, this was not a remotely good diamond even in the rough.

Those other diamonds look like frozen spit!

Anyhoo, it was about a 4 carat square checkerboard cut,at the most it was a K-L color and on a thick paved band. I am not sure if this cut has an official name.

It was pretty, but you would think it was a rb, right?

Everyone except Bill Gates and Oprah have to compromise between the 4Cs.

Since people vary there will always be a variety of priorities.
The majority of people pick diamonds as large as possible near the threshold of eye-clean and not too yellow, and cut be dammed.
A small minority prefer a diamond that is D IF or close to it, knowing full well they are giving up size.

To answer your question the reason cutters bother to facet the diamonds above (that look like they were cut from dirty snow from the side of a road) is some people care only about size.
Their budget is $300 but they simply must have a 1-carat diamond.
But thank goodness someone only cares about size.
It gives us lopsie fugs for us to giggle at.

Me too. In fact I would like to have it. Not as an ering or a pendant or anything, but I do really like it. I think it woud make a cool looking RHR.

Thanks Kenny! I think it''s just mind-blowing to me that there are people who would compromise that much for size, though. I mean, everybody knows a diamond is supposed to...well, sparkle, right?

Ok this thread has officially been highjacked. This was supposed to be something interesting about a famous diamond cutter''s wife''s ring and y''all have found a way to "mind clean" it. Congrats. I did not think it could be done but you did.

Sad indeed. It could have been a great discussion.

I didn''t get to respond, but was so curious as to what she was wearing. I just figured a big round. TC. I would love to see pics of her ring, the checkerboard but isn''t something you see every day, maybe that''s why she picked it!!!

Sorry your thread got hijacked. Would love to hear more from you!!!

I miss him. I wonder how he is and where he''s at?

Has he found a good home? I hope he''s well.

Love ya, Lopsie!

Oh, regarding the OP, my guess would be a 6 carat oval canary diamond with a YG head and platinum shank.

With claw prongs, of course!

With all due respect, you named this thread Let's Play A Game. It may have worked out differently had you posted about the ring, itself, from the beginning. If you had a photo, we would have loved to see it. If you had details, we would have been interested to read about them. When you ask PSer's to play a game, we enjoy having a bit of fun. I don't understand what you mean about "mind cleaning" this thread

Ditto. The name of the thread implies a lighter mood. BTW, are there pics of this ring, I know many people would love to see it.

Is it another mickey ring! lol

I am sorry, I didn''t mean to threadjack. I will start a new thread next time.
