Let it all hangout -- The Grumpies, whinies, complainies Get It Off Your Chest Thread....

Another thread has been deleted. The one Kenny started about the "R" word. Don't know what happened that broke the rules. It was there when I went to lunch and gone when I came back (It was 4-hour 2 Manhattan cocktail lunch after 6 hours of gardening in the hot sun) it was gone. Frustrating.

Personal insults were made, politicians were bashed. The usual.

Arrrgh. When I post in those threads I always feel like the Sword of Damocles is hanging over my head and I read re-read, edit and edit again to try to stay within the rules. When people violate the rules and the threads are erased, we lose the good discussion along with the bad. The irony is that the discussions about how we need to learn to share the sandbox with others are also those where we show we can't share. Humans, bah humbug.

You do an excellent job staying within the rules. Unfortunately others can't seem to post without bashing others.

I edit or remove posts as we can individually, but at some point it becomes too many posts to do that. That's when we remove threads.

I wouldn't have your job for all the money in the world. I'm an admin and mod on a cat forum and we play nice all the time, well....most of the time =)2

My lactose intolerance seems to have flared up. Usually I can tolerate small amounts of milk or cheese, but for the past few weeks I have not been able to tolerate any dairy containing lactose. It actually causes me stomach pain.

Thank goodness yogurt is still fine (the cultures break down the lactose). And fortunately I like soy milk.

Fire season started right on cue. Hot, windy & dry for the next few days. There's a fire 5 miles from us but not heading our way, yet. Large area has received level 2 evacuation notices and more firefighting units are being called in. Three acres turned into major fire in one hour. While being furious about this does nothing to help and only raises my blood pressure, I'm nonetheless furious because being fearful and living in choking smoke summer after summer after summer is taking a toll.

I'm supposed to head to the beach with a friend tomorrow but obviously won't if this thing heads our way.

I'm so sorry. Please stay safe.

My area lost power from 7:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. last night due to the enhanced power safety switches installed to prevent wildfires. Our solar backup worked perfectly. The weird thing is that all the houses to the right of mine including my immediate next door neighbor had power so they must be on a different switch which makes no sense because if one side of the street is in danger so is the other. We have a lot of elderly people in ill health in this neighborhood who are at-risk when the temps are high as it was all last night. Even if the temps had cooled, doors and windows had to stay closed due to wildfire smoke being blown in from other places. Our air rating yesterday was unhealthy. And now that the tax credits for solar have been eliminated, it will be more costly and less incentive for people to purchase it. I do not like this new normal.

I searched for pet peeves threads, but they're old. I have a neighbor (don't we all ?) who weed whacks & mows his lawn for 4 hours continuously every Sunday afternoon, completely ruining everyone's outdoor relax plans.

OMG, so do I! Except mine sometimes mows twice a week. On more than one occasion has been still mowing at 10 pm in the dark. And in the fall, blows off his driveway and sidewalk every day!

Does your town have noise ordinance? Many town do and activities are limited during certain hours.

Last week ER trip with Diverticulitis and dehydration. Getting better...but now my middle ear(s) is/are out of sync and if I turn my head too quick, I have to grab the desk.
ugh/whining

How big is their lot? We have an acre, and my DH has to spend 1 hr mowing and 1 hr weed wacking, and the other stuff that needs
done. Can't imagine spending 4 hrs on the lawn. I guess, contrary to most, some people actually enjoy that kind of work?:???:

And in the fall, blows off his driveway and sidewalk every day!

My former neighbor had an unhealthy relationship with his leaf blower. The first leaf hit the ground when Fall arrived had him out at 7 a.m. every day stinking up the air with his gas powered blower and every time his area accumulted 3 leaves on the ground, out he'd go to blow for another half hour. He'd blow off his are at least 4 times a day. We thew a celebratory block party when he moved.

I'm guessing 1/2 acre? It's a large cul-de-sac lot. I probably shouldn't have said "continuously" because he does take 5-minute breaks. But that just makes it more annoying because everytime you think he's done, he's not. Yesterday was from 1 - 5 pm, and in extreme heat, too.

HI:

Horrific summer. Cold. Thunderstorms and heavy rain EOD. F***.

My summer weather is horrible too, but the opposite. Too hot and humid, not enough rain.

That sucks too. But I would gladly trade you for some heat! Had the heat on in the car and house today!!! Record rainfall for July and the month isn't over!:(

Maybe we could house swap!

LOL. This is unusual for sure. Saving AC bills!!!

I sure miss the 50C we had in Palm Springs last year. Never thought I'd say that.

Unusual for me too. Not usually this hot in New England. My A/C bill is double.

My neighbor mows her yard twice a week, grass is not high at all, she's basically mowing dirt it's so short.

The stinkin' deer raided the peach tree last night. I found four peach pits outside the fence. At least they didn't jump in the yard, they just got the ones they could reach. LOL! Found one that they'd dropped inside the yard with a big ole deer-bite in it.

Deer have to eat too! :lol-2:

LOL the squirrels did this to my sisters cherry tomatoes. They made such a mess on her deck!!! She would find single bites taken out of the little tomatoes also.

This is a comment I often make! :D It’s a classic “nimby” moment for gardeners in our ‘hood. Go eat somewhere else.

LOL! We had “squirrel warfare” where we used to live. No squirrels here, but we now have “deer warfare”. And by “we”, I mean me. My DH thinks the deer are so pretty (they are), and that I should leave them be. Nope. Gonna pick the peaches today.

We have lots of deer in the hood. They like the neighbor's hedge.

Whatcha ya gonna make with those peaches???

LOL! We call cedar hedges “deer chow”.

Will give a lot of peaches away, and I think, can the rest, so we can enjoy peaches in winter. Might freeze a few for use in muffins?
