hello all, me again.

quick concern on pave settings. leon seems to only do micropave, v cut pave, mushroom pave (which is i think a 4 prong pave), and brighcut (which i think is his bead set pave).

i originally thought mushroom pave shank was my first choice for solitaire setting, but looking closer it seems like the 4 prong would reveal more metal on a 2 mm width ering. i just wanted to hear PSers opinions on the preference of 4 prong and shared prong, and if 4 prong really makes a noticeable difference in comparison....

does leon have shared prong settings in his catalog? i couldn''t find anything in there, but my eyes hurt from trying to see.

I thought shared prong would show less metal too, however my jeweler said that 4 prong would show less metal because the prongs for shared prong had to be much larger to support diamonds on both sides. I went with 4 prong and LOVE it. You can barely see any metal and when I compared it to my girlfriends shared prong there is DEFINITELY more metal showing on hers.

mushroom or the micro pave would be my choice with a Leon.

thanks harriet, mrssalvo, and vgirl!

good to know, and it makes me all the more confident on my first choice. just wanted to hear some more experiences jewelry owners to confirm this.

i heart PS.

Pannini,
I just dug up an old work order of Leon''s. He lists 7 different types of pave (archs, belgium, bright cut, burnish, fishtail, mushroom, number 6, royal and v-cut). I''ve mostly gone for mushroom as it shows the least metal, according to him.

I have two different types of pave from Leon. One is the 201 v cut and one is brightcut with millegrain edge. I am considering getting a second 201 band and his website now lists the 201 band as mushroom pave and 1.4-1.5mm width. So I called Leon because my 201 is V cut and he explained to me that he tends to use mushroom for 1.5 mm and less and v cut for wider and since my band was 1.8mm that why it's v cut. He also stated that there's not really any difference between them. The only difference I see is that the fine v wires on the sides of the band come over to make the four tiny claw prongs. Here are a few pics of my v cut for reference. I can't see anything but diamonds on my ering and w band, no metal whatsoever. Maybe you should call Leon because he would help you understand the different pave styles and help you decide which you would prefer! Good luck!

thanks heb1976, i love the look of vcut from top views cause it looks so sparkly, and i know this is weird perhaps, but i have a thing about textured sides. i noticed mushroom pave is smoother on the sides, i don''t have any good photos to show it, but do you know what i''m talking about?

perhaps he can do vcut pave and smooth down the sides, i wonder if that''s a weird request.

btw heb1976-- i love your rings so much, they are so beautiful.

how wide are your eternity bands, just curious?

i am hoping for 2 mm for my ering design, so i wonder if he''ll suggest vcut, or if it''ll look okay with the mushroom.
