Hi all. I am completely addicted to this forum and should probably being seeing a professional about it - ha ha! Ok, so not really, but I do hang out round here quite a bit. So, with that being said the DBF of 4+ years has began entertaining the idea of a possible future endeavor involving such things as a possible engagement. So, long story short we have absolutely fallen in COMPLETE LOVE

with antique cushion K/L or L/M w/a Leon solitaire: ala Snooper and BostonJeff (I know, us AND everyone else - can't help falling in love with perfection, RIGHT???).

So, the question is: regarding a plat solitaire setting by Leon - how much do they usually run?? I know Leon settings are $$$$ and totally well worth every cent, but I want to make sure enough is left in the budget to surround the perfect diamond w/the perfect setting...(I already have the perfect man

).

Thanks a million everyone!!

Back in Feb., I think the quote was in the ~$1,700 neighborhood, but the price of platinum fluctuates so it could be more or less. Hopefully, someone who had a recent one made can weigh in on the more current prices. I love that setting too, and if you're in love with it, I don't think anyone else's shop does it as well as Leon's.

We were thinking of starting a group along the lines of Di-anon :)

DA in stead of AA? Most excellent. Hi, my name is forensics, and I have been addicted to pricescope for...

Thank you for the round-about price. I was thinking it was around that number.

Just had a quote last week on a three stone which would have a tiny bit more platinum and it was $2K. Leon is very reasonably priced IMO.

My diamond is there right now and even though FF won''t tell me the exact price for a simple solitaire it was $1700 but he has added something that drove the price up a little.

IMHO his prices are really very very reasonable.

Thanks again for the numbers. Its hard working on a budget when you want everything!!

Leon''s prices do sound fair and for the work he does (or the work that comes out of his shop) is far beyond anything I have seen before.

I do thank you all again, because I know $$ can be a touchy subject.

I think his prices seem reasonable considering I was at Harry Winston today and saw workmanship that I have only seen from Leon''s pieces. Granted, I''ve never seen a Leon piece in person. Like you, I have a *ahem* mild addiction to Pricescope and have seen my fair share of his work online. It is truly gorgeous!

No worries happy to help :), do you know which LM solitaire you want?

Deelight, I love them all. But I think, due to the size, age, and color of the stone I have my eye on, I would want just a plain plat setting with double claw prongs. I would want the band width to be thin - say 1.8mm or so. I was entertaining the idea of micropave, but in all honesty, I can be kinda rough on rings at times and would be afraid of loosing a stone or crushing one; plus I am a classic girl at heart. I would, however, purchase a diamond eternity band to go with that solitaire to spice it up....just a little.

Thanks again for all you help!! Now to pass these "ideas" along to the DBF. You may ''see'' him on here....

Have a wonderful day!
