Leon is making my ring. I am on a very stricy time frame and as such need to fax all documentation to Leon today. With the help of everyone here at Pricescope I purchased a 2.16 carat RB. Now I cannot deciede between r776 and r1005 on Leon''s site;

http://www.artofplatinum.com/4images/details.php?image_id=432 and http://www.artofplatinum.com/4images/details.php?image_id=431

What do you think?

Does anyone have either that they can post pics of?

Please help me deceide.........

I don''t have any pictures to post for you, but my choice would be r776. Let us know which one you decide on.

I am afraid I am going to go the other direction - I just love r1005. That ring is someone''s here, for the life of me, I can''t remember her name right now, but if you check the SMTR thread, you should be able to see the real life pics of it.

hi jessdoll! out of the two you posted, i think i prefer the 1005. is there a profile view of the 776?

i absolutely love this one too http://www.artofplatinum.com/4images/details.php?image_id=315

Oh man I love r1005 for a RB!

Hm. I like r776 better, but in looking at the description...are you sure they''re not actually the same style but it''s the pictures (and the different shape diamonds) that make them look different? The style name for both is ''Ring Solitaire “Classic”'' and in the disclaimer it says ''*Style names are not be confused with the image ID.''

I love the r776.

So I''m not the only one who can''t tell the difference?

I''m trying to see subtle differences, but they look the same to me. They are both beautiful of course.

r776 looks like a cathedral band

Ya, I like the r776 better. What a lucky girl you are to have that choice to make though!

Have fun!

r776 looks like a cathedral band
Ah yes! Now I see the difference. I like the look of the r776 cathedral band a bit better actually.

Hmmm...I think you have to ask yourself: do you prefer more of a flat band look like the first one posted, or do you want more of a rounded-band look for your ring?

If it were me, I would go with the first one (r776), but with a slightly thinner band, just like Harriet did. I think it would be gorgeous and make the stone really pop!

Good luck!!!!

The 1005 has a low plain band and the 776 has a small cathedral rise from the band to the basket.

Both should be lovely, with the 776 being a little more fluid and the 1005 having a little more Pop! here''s the stone.

Bostonjeff''s gorgeous cushion thread has more pics of the 776.

And here is Harriet''s solitaire

The first one is a beloved classic look and it so admired when one is built. It has the cathedral sides that leads toward the fluidity that others are describing. If you are putting another ring next to your solitaire...it may fit better with this one as the bottom donut is not a prominent in the design. This one doesnt have as defined a circle as in the second one. (see how exaggerated the roundness is in the second one?) So that feature is something you should consider if you are planning on wearing a band next to it.

With out yakking too much... your second one is my design...have been talking about that for years here and it was finally built. It has a very modern line to it and it sits lower as the culet is seated in the bottom donut in the base of the head. So from a side profile view you will see the lines of a martini glass...or say a funnel. No other lines leading up to the head or competing with it. Just a basket on a ring. (yummy and simple like a hotdog on a stick) Simple yet makes the stone the main feature of the design. I do prefer Leons dual claw prongs...and haven't seen him use those on that design. I think seeing this one with 6 prongs would also be cool. Those are my only alterations I have considered.

The stone I hope to replace is close to your size...I too will be in this dilemma, so I would prefer to lead you to choose my beloved one...the second one. Eh, hem...I beg you to do the 1005 - I do so with absolutely no alterior motive whatsoever. No objective. Nothing to gain or benefit. Dual claw prongs please, oh and a size "5.5"

Do you mind if I am excited for you...I mean really....REEELLLY?

Please fill us in on a play by play and post us updates. You are a lucky girlie!!

many think dual claws make a round look more square ...so I wanted to throw that in and remind you to be aware of that.

Another vote for the r776. I just adore the subtle cathedral rise up to the basket. That tiny bit of airspace is so elegant - it's sort of like the difference between heels and flats.

r776 here too!! It is supremely elegant and fluid--the other one is lovely too, but this one looks more organic to me, if that makes any sense.

Both are fantastic, but another vote for 776 from me!

I went with the r1005. It is the one I first wanted but then got worried about it not being substantial enough. I am sooo worried about the setting. The diamond purchase seemed sooo easy. It probably does not help that my bf pushed me into making a decision on the setting quickly. I was originally just going to have the diamond set in Australia. He is also concerned that the setting is "flimsy". Please reassure me the Leon will do a fantastic job!

I will have my ring March 3 and will be back in Australia on March 10. I will post pics as soon as I can

Leon is going to do an AMAZING job. his settings are dainty but I would not call them flimsy at all. Can''t wait to see pictures once you get it!!
