hi everyone! i think i've decided to go with leon for my setting (thanks to you all), but i'd like to know if i can wear a wedding band with his solitaire. i don't need it to sit completely flush, but a wedding band is important to me, and I plan on wearing one. the search function in pricescope is down, so i wasn't able to search for similar posts.

can anyone help or provide any suggestions?? thanks in advance!!

ETA- leon told me he only suggests stacking bands together, and not with the ering...

I don''t understand. If he suggests not doing it, then presumably that''s because it will damage the engagement ring? Isn''t he the one would should really know?

thanks mrssalvo..that helps a lot! i see that there is a slight gap, but that is still ok for me. my only concern is the damage it will cause to the ring, but i plan on wearing just a plain band, so hopefully it won''t be an issue.

imdanny- that was my concern as well, but i have seen a lot of plain solitaires worn with wedding bands with a slight gap. i just wasn''t sure if leon''s solitaire was different in any way, or if he is just extra careful and likes the look of his solitaires alone. he told me that he doesn''t recommend wearing ANY rings together period.

Do you have a photo of what you are considering? Leon does not recommend wearing a band next to any of his rings. His designs do not allow for a flat part for the band to fit into. So there will always be some rubbing between the band and the head. He designs the head of the ring as an integral part of the band whereas in many settings the head is attached to the top of a band leaving room for a wedding band to snug up to the ering. Of course you can wear whatever you want but Leon isn't going to think it does his ring justice. I have a Leon that I wear alone and a wedding band that I wear along. One or the other depending how formal I want to be. If they do rub you'll damage both, though.

leon's designs usually have a lot of detail and gallery work and he prefers for them to be worn alone just b/c he thinks they look better that way. 3 sided pave sets shouldn't be worn together although there are many gals who do anyway and will just deal with the wear and tear down the road. Leon will suggests no wedding band on the same hand, ever, but when diamondseeker had him make her ring she told him she had the legacy band and was planning on wearing it with the e-ring. there is a slight gap but it's metal hitting metal on the two rings and aren't going to eat away at each other. nothing an occasional polish can't take care of.

ETA: a shared prong ring will probably do some damage though and wouldn't advice wearing one with a Leon ring.

I think it''s a "wear at your own risk" situation. Leon doesn''t endorse it, but people wear diamond bands with their solitaires all the time. I would be careful and check for damage frequently and stop the moment you notice something.

swingirl- here is the link to the setting http://www.artofplatinum.com/4images/details.php?image_id=50 i can tell that a ring won''t sit flush with it, but it might just be a tiny gap. i like the shared prong look, but i may just go with a plain band to ensure that it won''t get too damaged.

mrssalvo- i am scared to tell leon that i still want to wear a wedding band after he told me not to! i agree with you that the metal hitting metal can probably be polished out...

dreamer- thanks for the link. i actually didn''t understand that ring until you pointed it out. i thought it was a ring with multiple bands, so i never took a close look at it!

it may work, but like you, i still like the classic solitaire more.

kcourselle- first, i have to say i LOVE your ring! i remember admiring it and saving the picture when i was lurking a few months back. it''s beautiful and so unique! thanks for your advice...i think i will have to go try on different bands to see if any of them sit low enough with the ring, then i''ll see if i want to "risk" it

I have a LEon, three sided pave with pave on the head and on the shank... Leon and i have spoke in length about a wedding band and he does not like wedding bands worn with his pave settings, however, if he knows in advance you are planning on wearing a wedding band with your ering and you are honest with him, he is actually quite understanding.

With solitares, he will raise the gallery of the ring so a band can sit flush with the ring and there is no damage. The damage comes from the pave diamonds rubbing against each other or against metal.

If I was you, I would be straightforward and honest and let him know what you want. Heis very accomodating and yes, even understanding.

He will likely be making my band and was open to a spacer being worn to protect the rings.

The setting you have chosen is stunning and my favorite for a solitare...there are times I wish I would have gone that route.. so elegant, classic and timeless...

Good luck !

ok, that makes me feel better! i will let him know. do you think it will drastically change the setting if he raises the gallery a bit to accommodate a wedding band?

btw, i just looked through your thread, and your ring is BEAUTIFUL!!!! i loove asschers, and the setting is so intricate and so leon! congrats!!!

Funny. I am having Mark Morrell make a ring and fitted band he wasn''t exactly excited about me wanting them soldered together. After explaining the importance of this to my wife and not wanting them to rub against each other he did a great job getting them to perfectly fit and at the right heights so the band doesn''t take away from the ring. Since she didn''t want them separated we also weent with an eternity looking band but it doesn''t go all the way around. No need in our case. This is all in the CAD drawings though, I haven''t seen any real pictures of the final design.

I started this process in November though and am hoping it will be ready in a week. My wife is dying.

There is no problem with the plain solitaire and a low set wedding band. The key is that metal touches metal and not diamonds rubbing metal. Some shared prong bands would sit too high and the stones would rub against his setting and damage it. I absolutely love my solitaire with the Legacy band and do not see how there can be any damage. The only thing that touches is the tiny doughnut at the base of the head. When I ordered the solitaire I specifically said it would be worn with a Legacy band and he did not say a word.

He is an artiste, it sounds like. Yikes, I wouldn''t want to make him mad!

i am looking forward to pictures!! i was thinking about a mark morrell ring for a while because his settings are SO fluid! i think it is great that he is making the ring to accommodate the band. it is a VERY long process, isn''t it? we have been looking for a few months, too!

i LOVE the legacy band with your e-ring! like i said, i don''t mind a small gap like yours at all...i''m feeling a little bit more confident about this...
