I''m new here, although I have been looking at this site for about 2 months now. Well here is my dilema. I was looking at this simple setting by Leon Mege side view front view I want to this setting for a 1.7 emerald cut diamond. Do you guys think it will look good? Also anyone with this setting can you tell me if a wedding band can sit flush next to it? It''s really important to me that the two sit flush. I know that ritani settings are good about that and that is my second choice.

Let me hear your opinions

All I can tell you is that Leon told me he prefers that his rings be worn alone. I do not think a band would sit completely flush with that solitaire ring. If you do plan to wear a band, tell him so he can try to make it sit as flush as possible. I don''t mind a little gap, myself.

Hopefully Harriet will chime in since she has the same ring.

Skippy yes, I did see Harriet''s ring. It''s beautiful. I did ask her about the flush fit in another forum, but did not hear back yet. Do you think this setting will look as good with an emerald cut as it does with her round?

A classic solitaire setting is really fine with any shape diamond, although I am very partial to side baguettes with an emerald cut!

Diamondseeker, thanks for the info. I did as Leon about the flush fit as I was getting a price quote on the setting from him, but he seemed to ignore my question and just gave me the price quote. This was through email of course. This setting is just sooo beautiful I guess I wouldn''t mind a little gap, but by little I mean LITTLE

What he told me was to remind him on the order page to allow for a band to be worn with it. But I haven''t gone forward because I am not sure if there would be damage to one of the rings when they don''t sit flush.

I would give him a call

. I wish someone who has an LM would chime in, sorry.

Are you having him make the band, too? If so that seems like the easiets way to guarentee thay will fit together perfectly. It does not seem like he often does this- but there is an example on his site of two rings made for each other.

Harriet answered on page 5 of her reset thread (posted at 9/12/2007 7:52:27 PM)...she says she tried on one of Leon''s eternity bands and that it does not sit flush.

But I agree, if you ask Leon to make both rings at once and ask him to make them sit as flush as possible, that will be your best bet.

EC settings can be tricky if you want it to sit flush in ANY designer. Mine does but I think that is only b/c I have a wider band. If you want a thin band you are outta luck.

thanks for all the input guys. I guess I am going to have to call Leon and find out.

Hi there,

I have a setting very similar to this LM setting for my own 1.7 EC. Unfortunately, because of the thinness of the band and the shape of an emerald cut, you will not be able to get a flush fit....I have gotten used to the way my ring will look with a w-band ( I am getting married in 2 wks). At first I was upset with the gap, but you would be surprised, when you find a band you really love, the little space doesnt matter...the space actually gives each ring some differentiation.

I would give Leon a call and see what he says. No matter what, there will most likely be a gap, but maybe Leon can make the gap as small as possible if he makes the two rings at the same time....Best of luck!
