I just have a few questions/concerns regarding my recent Leon Mege quote. Any comments, thoughts, suggestions, or opinions would be great!

So yesterday I e-mailed him (through the contact page on his website) asking if he would set a 0.5 carat in a certain setting that I attached to the e-mail. He wrote back in 20 minutes that he could do any size diamond in that setting! I was over the moon!!!!!!!!! So after that I filled out the actual quote page with all my information. I put my "reference" number from the e-mail contact. I filled out all the info as follows:

0.5 carat stone that I already own; size 6.5
to be set in platinum in a non-cathedral, 4 prong, low set, small donut solitaire and sent the SAME picture that I did in the e-mail. (it is actually roxylady''s ring she got recently...https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/my-new-leon-mege-engagement-ring.117303/)

So I get the quote back today and it is really "off" as in he quotes solitaire r776 (this is a cathedral "classic" solitaire), in a size 7, with a 0.52 diamond at a "cost of labor of $1500" and then it said "total ring cost $4580"...?!? I don''t know where the wrong size and carat weight came from? Perhaps he thought I needed a diamond even though I checked the box that said I already owned it?!?
Any thoughts on why this is so inaccurate for what I requested? I sat there at my computer literally saying "huh" out loud. I''m guessing I will just have to call him and get it sorted out but I thought I would post and see what others might think/advice. Thanks

I don''t know about the wrong size bit but I''m pretty sure the $4580 total cost is if you buy the diamond through him too. Thats what he probably meant by .52 as in he was including that diamond in his quote.
The $1500 dollar part is obviously just for the setting alone. Maybe he just quotes everyone a centre stone ''just incase'' because I filled in the form for a quote too and I checked the box saying I have my own stone (which I don''t lol) but I still recieved a quote for just the setting alone and a quote for the whole ring including the diamond.
I hope this helps!

Thanks for replying:) That definitely helps as far as the pricing goes.
I''m still a bit confused about getting quoted for the wrong setting and size though

I missed the part about the wrong setting. Are you sure its the wrong setting? Maybe they are both the same setting but different images/carat size? Don''t worry about the wrong size. If you do go with Leon I know that before he starts any work he sends you a work order, which you have to sign and send back. Just make sure all the info on the order is correct.

jeg,
He just got back from a two week? three week? vacation *yesterday* ... I think he was deluged with quote requests & maybe got yours mixed up with someone else''s?

Kitty- the setting I e-mailed was r1005 (which is a non-cathedral setting) and he wrote the quote for r776 (which is a cathedral setting). It is however a bit reassuring knowing that a work order would be in place first. Thanks for your help :)

Deco- that thought did cross my mind too. It just seems too "off" to be mine. Thanks for your thoughts :)

I think he just made a mistake and gave you someone else''s quote. Email him again and ask him to clarify the quote and specify that you have the stone.

I just had a look at both rings and he probably got mixed up as decodelighted said. By the way its a great choice for a solitaire

swingirl- thanks for your advice. Bet he wishes he was still on vacation after me

kitty- thanks! I have

his solitaire settings since I found PS. The problem (or so I thought) was that he wouldn''t set a 0.5 carat in it. When he said he could I was SO happy! I love the non-cathedral with a small "donut" to fit a wedding band against someday. Roxylady''s almost made me faint...it is EXACTLY what I want!

I used to think the same thing because all the rings on his website feature hugeeee diamonds

Pls come back with handshots, I''d love to see 1/2ct in one of his settings.

kitty- I will definitely come back with pics if I get this sorted out! Do you think I can resolve this through another e-mail to him or should I call him?!? I don''t want to be a pain but at the same time nothing was correct on the quote?!? Thanks again by the way for all your help

Calling him would be best. I would do so his time in the early afternoon, say 1:00 or so. It was a mistake for sure. Let us know how you make out, good luck. I have dealt with him in the past. He''s a good guy, am thinking he''s deluged with emails since getting back from vacation....

Dear Leon,

I appreciate you getting back to me so quickly with a quote. I''m confused though because your quote is for ____ in a size _____, whereas I asked for a quote on ____ in a size _____. Thanks so much for your help with this!

Well I e-mailed him (essentially Deco's template) and he wrote back "it's not a problem, just send the stone here. We will prepare the work order for you based upon your request."
So that's good news. Now I just have to find someone to get the diamond out of my Mom's old setting and get it on it's way!
Thanks again everyone
