My girlfriend loves the Cartier 1895 solitaire, but I don''t love the roughly $10k premium (1.67 ct round, G, VS2) I''d be paying for the Cartier name. So I like the idea of having Leon make something similar. However, based on his website there seem to be a lot of rules with regard to meeting with him. Is it possible for she and I to meet with Leon to go over what she would like? Also, does anyone have any comments about buying the stone from directly from Leon?

Thanks,
John

cant help you with your question but wanted to mention to check out Mark Morrell''s website also....he''s got some fancy custom solitaires happening, good luck.

there have been a few pricescopers to meet with him in person and most of them went well. Hopefully one of the gals will chime in. there is nothing wrong with having Leon get you a stone but I would say the majority of folks here get their own and have it sent to Leon to be set.

Leon prefers you to have in your possesion the stone. get the stone and then design the ring around it - basically his way of working.
I would not go through him for my center stone. I''m not saying anything negative against him, just there are so many other options. Deciding
on a center takes time and thought.
Leon made my ring, I supplied the center stone and he sourced everything else. During my appointment with him, he called in side stones
for us to play around with. I took pictures of rings I liked and we worked from there. Good luck, keep us posted on your journey.

I dont think you necessarily need to meet with him if you can find a style on his website that you like. You do have to send your stone to him for the whole time, as opposed to sending it in at the end. I have been emailing him regarding making a setting for me and he has been very nice. Which ever feels most comfortable
to you, he will work with.
