Latest thinking is that left vs right is a total cardboard cut out crock
Dependant upon which misconceptions you tend to agree with in your inexperience or ignorance of some other facts.

(The old argument about whether Hitler played along 'socialist' lines, was a fascist or actually just a regular noncompartmentalised power-hungry psychotic political nut case being a case in point.)

ETA: actually, that quiz seems to prove my point. The first question is:

If economic globalisation is inevitable, it should primarily serve humanity rather than the interests of trans-national corporations.

We get to strongly agree, agree, disagree, strongly disagree. LOL!!
Who wrote this? Surely only someone from a strongly left background. What a laugh.

Funny you should say that: as I was re-reading this thread to see how others faired, I was amazed over the number of liberal respondents, & decided the poll was left leaning in the way it was written...the questions to me were leading in regards to the available responses...& then here comes your response Lara! I'd have to agree!

Yes, I have to agree. I didn't think I was that liberal on financial matters. Social issues absolutely but I was surprised where I landed on the economic scale.

It's just that these topics are sooo complex and nuanced that they defy summary.

One could ultimately summarize it all down to, 'We're all the same because everyone wants to be happy and wants to do the right thing'.

That's not too useful.

I really like this quiz because it is thorough. You can ask for more questions on an issue and you can rate the importance of each question if you wish.
