Alright guys so left a deposit on an engagement ring. It looked amazing in the store especially under the light. I took a few pics and when I got home it looks the center stone had a tinge of yellow . It's a halo style. I no I was looking for yellow in the store but didn't notice yellow at all on the ring. But the pic shows a tad? Could it be the camera? The lighting I took pic in? I'm going crazy going back to take a look tomorrow.

Type : cusion
Karat : 1.56
Color: G
Clarity : vs2

Thanks

Everything looks amazing in the store light. Ask to see it by a window. If its a GIA G it shouldn't look yellow. If its IGI it might not be a true G.

Where did you purchase the ring? Does it have a grading report? From whom?

Was a picture supposed to be attached for us to see?

Since you don't live in the jewelry store, your best bet, I think, is to take it outside and to various spots in the store and see if you can see the color in different lighting. Whether or not you see it in the store is immaterial. Even crappy diamonds look ok in jewelry store lighting.

It's Gia certified G color

Reflection from something in the room as you took the photo ?

No florencence in the stone

Hi Ringsandthings! :wavey:

I'm sorry the diamond is not what you thought it would be (in terms of color)... I'm a little confused though, because a GIA G, H, or even I for that matter, should not look "yellow" - especially when set in a halo. Are you viewing it from the side (assuming the setting exposes the stone beneath the halo)? An excellent cut stone will help "camouflage" any yellowish tendencies when facing up. I have a GIA XXX J set in a halo, and it is totally white facing up. I only see a bit of tint when looking from the side in a very few lighting situations.

That being said, if you are not happy with the stone, I would exchange it. =)

When buying a diamond, you cannot judge color under jewelry store lighting. You should always ask them to take the ring into natural light. That said, G color is not yellow. So I wouldn't worry about the picture!

Thanks guys, mayb I am just having alittle anxiety as I just want to make sure it's perfect for her. My brother said he didn't see any yellow in store . Maybe it's just my nerves!

i went back today and did not see any yellow at all... i think it is just my mind playing games and also the way my phone is taking the pictures. In person i see no yellow tint.

I am very happy with it, and very happy with the jewler. I have attatched a pic of the stone just sitting in the setting before it goes out to get seated properly in a custom fit setting. Thanks again

Though I am Nervous when the tiny gaps between that halo and stone are filled the ring will appear smaller

A standard cubic zirconia is approximately a D colorless. If you are really concerned about tint, you can probably easily compare those two. I can see a faint bit of tint in accurately F/G round brilliants, from the side only, starting around the 1.4ct mark. A cushion is usually deeper than a round, and it has different faceting, so I suppose it's possible that you might see slight tint in it. But it shouldn't look yellow.
