Hello Again Everyone. Thank you all who had posted on my previous thread. After thinking I had decided on a stone, and going as far as to place the stone on hold (good through tomorrow), I was perusing James Allen''s other diamonds, and came across another possibility. I was hoping you could compare the two, and tell me which is better deal, and which you would be happier to purchase and/or receive.

Diamond 1 -
Cost: $7,610
Ct: 1.198

Cut: AGS0
Sym: Ideal
Polish: Ideal
HCA: 0.7
Table: 57.4
Depth: 60.5
Crown: 34.3
Pavilion: 40.6

Diamond 2 -
Cost: $7,280
Ct: 1.31
Color: I
Clarity: VS2
Cut: GIA Excellent
Sym: Excellent
Polish: Excellent
HCA: 0.8

Depth: 60.4
Crown: 35
Pavilion: 40.6

I guess my main question is, with the larger diamond being slightly cheaper, will the difference in color (H v I) and clarity (VS v VS2) be negligible or noticeable? Will the quality of cut on the I color stone help it face up just as white?

Thanks again for this great forum!

If very well cut (which we don''t know exactly, though the numbers look ok)), to the average person, it shouldn''t make a lot of difference. And the clarity shouldn''t be an issue at all. I would ask JA to compare these and pick the best one myself.

I prefer AGS to GIA, they have stricter grading standards, so I''d go with diamond 1

While I agree with this part, that doesn''t mean all GIA stones are bad. There are actually some very nice ones out there.

Looking at price per carat, the H/VS1 is normally 30% more expensive than the I/VS2.

In this case, it is only about 10%, thus I would say that stone 1 is actually about 10 to 15% cheaper.

Live long,
