Hi everyone,

With all the trouble I have had with my E-ring being ruined by a big box chain store...I'm getting very nervous about the prospect of them resetting my stone(it was bought separately from the setting, and from a different, small, store). My concern is that, because they clearly do not seem very capable to me, and therefore not all the reputable...that they may try to swap out my stone. It's not a really high quality stone, SI1, G, .74, but, it is my stone, that is a very, very nice looking stone, and my husband got an incredible deal on. So, I'm wondering if it would be wise to have it laser inscribed for identifications.

Any thoughts? I don't know where to start in looking at getting done, so I'm wondering if someone could direct me also.

Thanks

You don't need an inscription with an SI1 stone. Look at your stone with a loupe. Map the inclusions for yourself. And take it with you when you drop it off. Every stone has birthmarks, they are your inclusions. Look through the loupe with whomever is taking you stone from you at the jeweler, have them map the inclusions on the receipt they give you. Then when you get the ring back, make sure you go over the inclusions again, and check against your map, if they match, it's your stone.

Hmm that's a good idea, they do map the stone when I take the ring in. I didn't think about the fact that I could just do that myself. Now I feel a little stupid. :wall:

Don't worry about it! 8)
