Has anybody bought any of his settings please? If so, are the diamonds really VS and G/H in colour. As LOGR has put up his prices I''m keen to get a few settings elsewhere.

The last couple of LOGR's weren't as fine workmanship as some of my earlier ones, and I returned one, so I have been looking at lan.b04. Now, I just heard rave reviews about lan.b04 from someone that I highly regard as being a setting expert. The one lan.b04 I purchased had a prong that broke off, so I never bought from them after that, but I think they might have improved, and I hear their diamonds are better. I emailed him a few times, and he's pretty unresponsive though, unlike Stephen who always gets back to me, so I'm kind of undecided. I heard LOGR is fishing their work out to different factories, so there's now some inconsistency in their quality.

Great to know - thank you TL. He actually emailed me back very quickly and has accepted an offer on two of his rings. I asked about the diamonds but he simply said they were VS - but what OUR VS diamonds are and what some people sell VS as can be different!

Well, I think I''ll go ahead then and cross my fingers. How quickly did he ship?

I don't recall the shipping time, but I think it's by regular post, and you have to pay extra for express shipping, which is free with LOGR. Don't quote me on that however. Please let us know how the settings turn out once you receive them. I'm highly considering jumping the LOGR ship since as you said, his prices did jump, and upgrades just add to the cost. I am particularly interested in the diamond quality. Thank you!!

ETA: Did you see the setting that Chictomato just got for her concave chrome tourmaline? It's beautiful and it's from beyondjewelry3 which I believe is a lan.b04 store. His other stores are

jewe2004
diamondmounts

and I know there's some others.

Oh I hadn't realised that! I'll go and have a look at Chic's setting. I've never heard of beyondjewelry3 so that's good to know.

Of course I'll post up photos of the settings when I get them. Fingers crossed!

Edit: Found Chic's setting WOW! https://www.pricescope.com/forum/colored-stones/chrome-tourmaline-is-here-t141670.html The diamonds look excellent

I ordered from Jewe2004 and have to say I really did like the setting. diamonds were very clean and bright, and the setting was quite heavy. They didn''t modify it as requested (and paid for) so I sent it back. It appears they have that taken care of which is a good thing.

I have another from lanboy, which was a fantastic setting (got it for a song!) diamonds are small but clean and bright.

I''m hoping LOGR quality isn''t down especially since I just ordered a new one.

Will have to wait and see I suppose.

Arcadian,
Did they take care of the problem of customization? I have heard that they don''t always customize settings to a person''s specific requirements, and that kind of scare me, especially if I have to return it back to China.

I hope your new setting is lovely Arc.

I guess that when I compare prices, for the LOGR ones, I always upgrade if I''m using the setting for a good stone and their starting price is higher than lanbo''s so after I''ve added the upgraded diamonds, it''s almost double for an LOGR. I hope that LOGR bring their prices down again.

There was one of the ladies in the SMTR forum that said they had no issues at all and the settings really looked amazing. Thats the only thing I have to go off of. I also haven''t purchased again since sending back to china is a PITA.

Stephen won't admit to fault though. I won a setting on auction and the diamonds were frozen spit even though I upgraded the metal. I told him that I have his other SI default stones on that same exact setting and they were much nicer, but he just offerred to give me my money back. I would have preferred he would remake it properly. I even offerred to show him my other SI setting in a photo next to this one to show that the quality of diamonds were pitiful on the new one, but oh well, when you win things for cheap, you get what you pay for I guess. I did have to pay S&H to send it back, but he didn't charge the $30 restocking fee he typically charges on returns.

I set my ametrine in a jewe2004 setting. Customization (larger head to fit the dimensions of my stone as well as resizing) cost $35. I think the diamonds look great...

I have bought 5 rings from LOGR and liked all of them. Love two of them actually, very good quality for the price. It is too bad that his price is going up but he had warned me about gold price. I ordered a ring this week and hopefully it will turn out good. After all, LOGR price is much cheaper than what I can find in US.

I ordered two rings from lanbo and had to return the first one. He sent me a completely different ring and even tried to argue that it wasn''t much different. It cost me $30 to send it back. The second ring was a winning bid and really inexpensive, so I kept it. The diamonds are tiny and doesn''t sparkle like LOGR. Workmanship is okay, not high. I have tried to purchase a pair of earrings from them recently but communication has been difficult. Mind you, I emailed him in Chinese many times but they still don''t get it! I think you can still find something from lanbo''s store, but be careful if you have to customize.

Thank you for the photos Jstar. It''s good to see some more of his setting "in real life"! I''m glad you''re happy with it.

Yingh - I remember your thread now and I think that was what put me off buying from him. I''ve been a loyal fan of LOGR but because it''s hit and miss with the diamonds it always works out so expensive to upgrade etc. I''ve always been happy with the upgrades and modifications though. I agree about lanbo''s communication. He emailed me back immediately this morning and now it''s all gone deathly quiet!

I understand that LOGR may have raised prices because of rising gold prices, and I can even get adding $9.99 shipping charges, but I do NOT like this link of charging $20 for shipping for a 9kt gold ring to compensate for its lower price. Every single other listing ships for $9.99. While the $20 shipping is clearly stated, I find it deceptive nonetheless.

Yingh,
I do recall your issues with them, but was that quite some time ago? I think, and I could be wrong, but my gut feeling is that their workmanship/quality has improved since then, and LOGR''s went down. I could be wrong.

I have many rings from both LOGR and Lan.Bo. Lan.Bo is very consistent in their quality when ordering from their auctions without customization. Their diamonds are in general very consistent and I have yet get one that looks like black frozen spit (which did happen to me with LOGR). He was always very responsive to me but you have to use very simple english and illustrate with photos. However, I stopped buying from Lan.Bo because we got into a big argument over two completely custom jobs. What he had made me had no resemblance to what I showed him - we couldn''t come to an agreement to fix it etc.

LOGR appears to be using multiple suppliers so his quality ranges a fair bit. Some are great ... and some not so good.

I know he advertises customisation but I wonder if actually he''s more equipped to people buying off the shelf? It sounds like those are good but when you need to communicate and ask for other things, it might go wrong?

He hasn''t come back to me yet but as soon as he does, I''ll be buying two settings and will post up photos when they arrive.

Thanks Charmy for your input. It''s really good to know that the diamonds are black frozen spit (I''ve had 2 like that from LOGR but they were bought at auction and not upgraded)!

Glad I could help! You can see the diamonds are nice and shimmery and definitely don''t look like frozen spit in my photos. And as I mentioned, this was customized a bit for a very reasonable price and came out pretty much how I had expected. I thought the shank would be split a little farther apart, but to be fair, I hadn''t specified that in my request, and I think it looks fine this way.

I should clarify that when I said customization, I meant complete custom jobs where he makes me a ring based on photos. I had no problems with stone size or ring size changes in which they always did it properly (except for one out of over 20 purchases). I usually send something like this.

Make changes:
Auction Number: ##
Ring Size: US #
Stone Size: # x # x #
Stone Shape:
Gold:

Okay, so my take on this is the following:

If you want an off the shelf ring, than go with lan.b04

If you need significant customizations, then go with LOGR.

Ugh, I wish there was one that had both consistent good quality and did customizations properly (other than ring sizing).

Hi there! The setting is pretty. I got it from jewelryhoo instead as they quoted a better offer after adding in all charges(resizing, shipping, upgrade etc). I asked for their best diamond, and they came in white and sparkly (a couple of chipped ones under 10x), but very small and single-cut, it is different from logr, whereby their upgraded diamonds are full-cut (though I1-I2 clarity, occasional 2-3 black melees).

Honestly, I am trying out all different ebay seller, if there is a chance, I try not to purchase from logr if possible. I find the logr finishing is not too well done, not to mentioned a lack in good-customer service, expect to see nicks and pits on the metalwork.

I tried prettyjewelry2u, Jackson has great customer service skills (though the setting does not work out for me, it looks rather old-fashion to me IRL, hence I had it returned).

My latest purchase was from diamondzone. Their settings are extremely light-weights. I've got the silver and 14k white gold, and trust me the colors look exactly the same (I was expecting the 14k white gold to be a little heavier, whiter and probably shiner), they make a mistake in resizing too, last but not least, no hallmarked on both rings. I had the 14k wg ring returned immediately.

Thought of keeping you gals update, I had approached Michael E to mount my chrome tourmaline, Rubellite Tourmaline and agate for me. I have to say that he is a great communicator, and he is the only person that can assure me that the stones will not be scratched under magnification:) I shall wait for my latest 18k wg mount from jewelryhoo before sending Michael all 3 stones and settings. O ya I will be sending in my chipped Uli garnet to Michael too, hopefully something can be done (I am keeping my fingers cross)

Shall keep you gals update whenever I make any purchase with other seller!

ugh! Diamondzone. They sized my ring wrong too, then had the nerve to call me a liar over it. Plus, the darn thing felt like something out of a bubblegum machine. I had to actually go through a dispute with them to get them to even give me my money back, so hopefully you get your money back quickly Chictomato.

My first setting ever was from lan.bo4. I am totally dissapointed in it. It stated the weight was 1.04 cts... a few months later I saw the same setting being sold as 0.88cts. The diamonds are sooooo tiny, they barely sprakle at all, they shimmer is more like it (I had gold + diamonds upgraded btw). I had it modified and it came out crooked. At the time I didn't have the knowledge I have now so I thought it looked great... but I notice that I don't wear my ring - which was my anniversary gift two years ago... I will never buy from them again I think. Maybe I got unlucky with my choice of setting.... who knows...

Anyway Jewe2004 seem to have some nicer settings, although I understand they are the same people?

I made a thread for my ring (it's a green tourmaline in the lan.bo4 setting) somewhere... lemme see if I can find it.

eta: found it. Here it looks ok fine:

phpPON0J1PM.jpg

You can see it's crooked on the top left side (and that pictures makes it look better than it does):

OMG I hate this

Tks for informing me though

Okay, I think diamondzone and jewelryhoo are part of the lan.b04 group.

So we have

lan.b04
diamondzone
jewelryhoo
beyondjewelry3
diamondmounts
jewe2004

Any others?

Geesh, no wonder he can''t keep any customizations straight, he has fifty stores!!

My last LOGR had lots of customizations, I required double prongs, two tone (head yellow, shank white) upgraded diamonds, ring sizing, new head size, and they all came out correctly. If I gave all that to lan.b04, I seriously doubt it would be done properly. I can also return to the U.S. office if need be, sot that''s nice. I do like some of lan.b04''s designs. I feel like LOGR''s are a bit dated and some are just plain ugly. He needs to get more designs.

He claims that diamondmounts and happyday2003 is not him. However, those people ship in the same packaging as lan.bo.

Actually, Diamondzone is in Chicago. I don''t think they''re the same at all (and they speak perfect english though they apparently can''t get the sizing done correctly

)

HOWEVER, I do know that diamonzone uses a chinese manufacturer though any returns goes back to chicago.

I have another highly customized setting on its way from Jewelryhoo, as compared to the 2 (or is it 3?) settings I have from them with no customization.

Fingers crossed!!!!
