Wow. I just bought some loreal yesterday because it was on sale. Aggg, is nothing safe anymore?

Chrono, I saw that on tv and I use L'Oreal.

Ladies, If we want to change this we need to write the make up company and the FDA saying they need stricter requirements on lead and that lead in cosmetics is not acceptable!!!

ETA: Loreal owns Lancome and Maybelline.

I would like to know which brands make up the 39% that didn''t test positive for lead.

FWIW, I shouldn''t start a debate, but I would really like to point out that L''oreal, Lancome, & Maybelline all test on Animals! Most brands do not test, including Chanel, and all brands owned by Estee Lauder (like MAC, Clinique, etc.), Smashbox, Stila, etc., so it''s easy to find other less harmful brands. The Peta Site lists who tests.

HI:

Of course I adore Dior Addict lipstick.....or did. Too, I was not consoled about the minimal acceptable levels of lead.....yet contaminents like this are likely more prevalent than we realize....

cheers--Sharon

Skippy is right...letter to manufacturer is great. Also one to the retailers hocking the stuff.

But even better with a letter would be a shoe box of your tubes sent to corporate. If we all did that it would be a lead BOMB (figuratively) and surely they would take note.
During the war they had paper, metal, and rubber drives...we should organize a nationwide LEADSTICK drive and dump them on their doorstep. News coverage would surely help to make a change. I will not let any woman put that in her basket if she is a fellow shopper of mine!! ( I did that with the dog food recall...and you wouldn''t believe the people who refused to listen to me!! Not kidding. I was so furious. "mind your own business...").

Concerning leadstick...I suppose the old adage of Beauty Kills...is true.

Thanks for the heads up, MC.

Just recently switched to MAC and NARS lipgloss...I am not a fan of lipstick at all but it irks me that I used to use L''Oreal and Maybelline, etc. I''ll join the dumping of lead-containing lipsticks, let me know where the drop-off is! Sheesh, I thought I was a researcher-and-a-half but apparently I never go far enough...this leaves a bad taste in my mouth, period, No Pun Intended!!!
