Okay ladies

, here is the deal:

I have been going through [literally] hundreds of engagement rings for my fiance-to-be in the past 3 months.

The Simon G- Hollywood Lifestlye ring below is the leading contestant.

My questions to all of you are:

1) Do you like it or is it too contemporary? (I know what you are thinking, it''s up to her taste, but I still want to know your honest opinion)

2) It comes as a "Bridal Set", however it would look very silly without the pink diamond band in the middle. Therefore, would it be too far fetched (for a women getting married) to accept this ring and then give it up on the wedding day only to put it on her left hand a few hours later? Or is it accepted not to have a seperate wedding band?

2a) Along those lines, should I get the pink band seperately?

3) I was told this specific ring extenuates the center diamond. Therefore, I was thinking of getting a higher certified diamond rather then a bigger stone with a lesser cert. The actual GIA cert reads:
F, VS1, excellant cut, excellent polish, excellent symetry and no fluorescence. Would you as a women rather have a bigger diamond with lesser cert, or smaller diamond with the best cert?

Thanks for your input, it really does mean a lot to me!

She could always wear the WG engagement ring on her right hand on the wedding day, and you could exchange vows with the pink diamond band, and when the ceremony is over, she can pop off both, slide the pink band in there, and poof - done!

I do like the idea. I always wanted a split shank that could fit a wedding band in between like that, but I have shorter fingers, and I decided the width of something like that might be too much for me.

Hi! I think the setting is very nice. This setting isn''t all that contemporary at all imho... So that shouldn''t be a concern. It''s a gorgeous setting!

I would go with a slightly lower grade in clarity (for sure), color (maybe), and still an excellent cut and larger size. Run the numbers through the HCA on this web-site.

Good luck! Make sure you post pictures, lots of pictures!..

1. after 3 years on PS, there are few things I could see that I would consider too anything.
2. lots of split shanks and large gaps in wedding sets, so i don''t think it looks too ridiculous without the pink band.

I have always

that setting. I thought the pink middle band was separate, no? I think it looks fine without during the engagement and then you slip it in for the marriage.

I think that set is simply gorgeous! I absolutely love it!

I also do not think it would look bad/silly without the wedding band in it, to be used as an engagement ring. Just as mentioned above, I would buy it as a set, engagement ring on the right hand during the wedding, slip on that beautiful pink diamond band, and after the wedding, slip the pink diamond band in both rings go back on the left hand!

I think it is a beautiful and stunning ring.

I have seen that set before, loved it then and love it now! I think that it would look lovely without the pink band during the engagement, and with the band after the wedding.

The Simon G- Hollywood Lifestlye ring below is the leading contestant.

My questions to all of you are:

1) Do you like it or is it too contemporary? (I know what you are thinking, it''s up to her taste, but I still want to know your honest opinion) I LOVE it--It''s gorgeous. I have seen Simon G in real life, nice stuff!

2) It comes as a ''Bridal Set'', however it would look very silly without the pink diamond band in the middle. Therefore, would it be too far fetched (for a women getting married) to accept this ring and then give it up on the wedding day only to put it on her left hand a few hours later? Or is it accepted not to have a seperate wedding band? I don''t think it would look silly to wear it without the pink w-band as a split shank ring. But if she doesn''t want to do that, it is OK to take the ring off, give it to the best man, then put it on the left hand during the ceremoney. I did that, because I just had an all-in-one ring with no separate wedding band. Has she actually tried on this ring to see if she likes the e-ring without the wedding band? She just might like it!

2a) Along those lines, should I get the pink band seperately? Is it sold that way? I thought it was sold together and you could just hold on to the pink band until the wedding day.

Don''t confuse certified diamonds with well cut diamonds. A certification alone does not mean that the diamond will be gorgeous. On rounds, you want to stick with Ideal cuts (AGS certs), or Excellent (GIA certs) like the one you found. With these kinds of cuts, you can still go lower in color and clarity and get a bigger diamond for less money. Look at PS vendors like GoodOldGold.com, Whiteflash.com, JamesAllen.com, and NiceIce.com. I just bought an I/SI1 from GOG and I got it today. It sparkles like crazy. It is also an AGS0 Ideal cut. Link here: http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/3823 The I color and SI1 clarity allowed me to go with a .63 ct. instead of something slightly smaller for a bigger look for the money. The F/VS1 you chose sounds like a great cut, but if you were willing to go down to a clarity of VS2 or SI1, and a color of G-I, you definitely could get a larger diamond for your money and still get something incredibly beautiful.

Thanks for your input, it really does mean a lot to me!

Hope that helps. I tend to be long-winded!

I love the split shank designs and am actually getting one as my ring. I opted not to have a wedding band so am okay with having to hand it over the day of the ceremony. You may need to get her feeling on this though to make sure she's okay with the idea.

The ring you've picked out is lovely, but I wonder if she's a "pink" girl. I don't much like pink so probably wouldn't pick that setting with the pink wb, though I do love it otherwise. My Mom absolutely adores pink and would die to have pink diamonds I'm sure and there are certainly lots of girls out there who are the same. lolol

As far as the size/quality question? I'm more of a quality girl. I'd rather have a smaller super duper looking stone than a monster that is dull and lifeless.

Keep us posted on which way you go!

ladies...thank you SO much for your opinions. because of your opinions I have actually called up to make sure that the two rings are seperate. I will present her with both rings (so she can really get a good look at them) when I propose to her. I will leave it up to her as to whether she wants it together (molded that is) or not. I can only assume that the two will have to be molded together to fit correctly. From your opinions I have realized that it can always be put together rather easier than be taken apart.

I am going to opt for the better graded diamond rather than the bigger size. Not for the $ reason but because the ring itself with a split shank and the mounting are big and she does have shorter fingers than many women do. Hence, I do not want to over-do it. The size is more than respectable and the grade will just put her over the edge.

As far as the pink diamonds/band---she is HUGE on pink. Even though she has not shown me an engagement ring with pink diamonds on it, I know she will love the look of it (or anything I give her for that matter). She has hinted and shown me split shank rings, with similar mountings. I am only hoping she will adore it--I just want to make it "perfect" and make it everything she has always wanted.

But now that the ring is sorted out, comes the hard part----coming up with the perfect proposal
36.gif

I've got lots of ideas rolling around, but I don't know what would be best for her/us.

It sounds like you''ve really been listening to her and her hints.

You''re a sweetheart for trying so hard to get something she''ll love. If she''s into pink as much as you say, I can''t see her being anything less than thrilled with this setting. It''s definitely beautiful and unique without being too over the top.

How long are you going to wait before you give it to her once it arrives?
3.gif

Oh Wow. I love it.

No, I don''t think it''s too contemporary. And I love love love the pink!!!!!!!!

awe, thanks for the support! I really do hope she likes it.

Cute---> http://www.advantagebridal.com/rhcrjeboxinb.html
Thanks for the idea!

Do you think I should give the engagement ring with the pink band in it when I propose? Personally I think the ring wouldn''t do itself justice if I didn''t do that. Thoughts......?

Well, the ring is being specially made which will take about a month. Therefore, after I get the ring in hand, she will be getting it the next weekend (last weekend in July-as of now).

I know that every proposal is special in it''s own way. However, what are of the cutest ones you have heard of?
41.gif

My opinion is to show her the whole set when you propose, then hold the pink band for the wedding day. That way, when she gets the whole thing together, everyone can ooh and aah over the whole set. And believe me, they will!

I loveeee it!!!! WOWOWOWOWWW!

I agree with NeverEndingUpgrade in that you should propose with the ring in its entirety then hold the pink band for the wedding.

The proposal I think is something very personal...I''m not too experienced in that department! I haven''t visited the Proposal Idea forum here either - have you looked there for any ideas?

You can get help with proposal ideas in the proposal forum Titled proposal ideas. Yes we have that here as well. I love this ring, can't wait to see hand shots once you propose, she'll be thrilled.
