I am looking for advice on the BEST and or EASIEST way to remove unwanted hair above the lip. I tried sugaring it myself and it didn''t work, it took a few hairs out in a few spots but left most of it and that just won''t do. If you have a method that you find works well, you''re input, opinion and or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

Professional waxing

If you want nearly permanent removal, get laser. I had it done nearly five years ago and I haven''t had any hair on my upper lip since. (I have fair skin and black hair, which is the best combo for laser. If you''re a blondie, it''s unlikely to work well.)

If you want to deal with regular maintenance, go for professional waxing.

I pluck the thicker ones that don''t hurt. Then I use the feather flamingo to shave the rest.

Welcome to PS!

Laser sounds great, I would love to get that done!

In the meantime did you try a home epilator Pantss? It is great for areas you may not wish all and sundry to see.

I am a person that tends to grow a lot of hair and I had a home thing that basically plucked the hairs out at high speed and it hurt! Made my eyes water and I couldnt stand to do it. I tried nair for faces and since my hair is so stubborn I have to leave it on for the max time and it likes to leave red marks on my lip so I had to go back to waxing. I get it done when I get my hair colored. It is qucik and it works. I am not willing to spend the $ it takes for laser removal when I can get lip and eyes done for $20.

If you think about it RQ, the laser is less expensive in the long run. If you get waxed every three weeks, you''re spending around $350 per year for waxing. The laser I had done on my upper lip cost $500 for that area, and it has lasted for over five years now. SO WORTH IT in my opinion! (And I''m lazy, so the fact that I don''t have to worry about it anymore is a major bonus.)

Ditto. Threading is cheap and easy. Not painless but it''s over quickly and much better for your skin than waxing.

been waxing and over time the upper lip area has gotten lighter with the problem hair, both in amount and color. its done as a first step in my facial that i get every 3-4 weeks. chin hairs are more of a problem, heavy sigh.

I am vowing to get laser hair removal soon. I''ve gone in twice for consultations and just never committed to having it done. I do have light skin and have mostly dark hair, but I have a little bit of fuzz, too. I guess I was hoping the lasers might improve. I''m also concerned about my hyperpigmentation. My sister had it done and said it did discolor her skin a little, but I don''t think she went to a very reputable vendor...

Anyway, I use nair once a week. It only takes about 5 minutes, though I will pluck in between. It''s enough of a pain so that I want a permanent solution (laser), but not so much of a pain that I can''t deal with it. I have a waxer at home (I wax my arms), so I will occasionally wax, but because of my hyperpigmentation, my upper lip stays red for 4+ hours and it''s embarrassing.

For those annoying chin hairs, I just pluck. Some of the course chin hairs are dark, but some are blonde. So annoying.

ah, if it were so simple to just pluck those chin hairs! i think the upper lip ones migrated south to my chin.....however, if over time things got better with the upper lip [mostly fuzz now], i''m hoping the same will happen for the chin. plucking isn''t making it.....

I had my chin lasered, it''s worth every penny.
I''m currently getting my underarms done, I''m super excited to not have to shave my underarms anymore.

Thank you for all of the advice everyone!

I have been seriously considering threading, those of you who thread, do you do it yourself or have it done? Waxing sounds like a good idea also, even though I do like the idea of laser and not having to deal with it. With laser is it expected to re-grow at any point and does it hurt to have it done and how many sessions do you have to do (approximately)?

I just started noticing this hair within the last year, I''m in my early twenties and am not happy about this! It''s mostly blonde fuzzy hair with a few dark ones if you really look but I notice it a lot especially now that the sun is shining more it seems it kind of shadows itself? Icky.

Since we''re on the topic of hair removal, does anyone have a preference to remove bikini line/area as well? I''d imagine having it waxed would be best? Oh how I''d love to laser all my unwanted hair off for good! (I don''t even know if that''s possible) but I can dream :)

Thank you for the welcome!!! No I haven't tried a home epilator. I haven't tried anything other than sugaring it myself the once. I thought I'd ask around before I tried anything else. :) I am just starting to look into the options/costs etc. I love getting opinions and advice first!

pantss: i would say 9 times out of 10 i''ll go to a salon to get my threading done. i only ever do it myself if i''m in a pinch. i''m not particularly good at it, or as quick as the techs so i prefer getting it done by somebody else.

for the other region - i get a full wax done every 6 wks or so.

another vote for threading- it''s fast and CHEAP!

I use the epilator as an all rounder, if you catch my drift. I used to wax but I got too busy for upkeep and the epilator can be used for a few mins to keep everything pretty. It is cheap too - just the cost of the unit and a good exfoliating scrub for the shower.

I am with Haven and hope to get lasered when I have the cash but until then I am happy to pluck myself to perfection.

If you''re ever in a pinch, Sally makes these pre-waxed strips that you just pull apart, apply to upper lip, and pull off. They have them at my grocery store even. They work well and I love being able to do it myself without having to deal with the mess of wax.

I normally wax legs/bikini area but if I''m in a pinch or the hair hasn''t grown out long enough for waxing, I''ve started using Magic Shaving Powder as a substitute for shaving. I hate shaving as I always end up with cuts/rash/ingrown hairs and I found Magic Shaving Powder to help with that and it''s quicker too. 5-7 minutes and I''m done.

Thanks for starting this thread!

I''m 27 and now starting to get those "strays". Fortunately (I think), they are very blonde and hard to see if you aren''t super close to my face. I''ve been plucking a few nearly every day, and I keep thinking that there has to be a better way!

I''m just now starting to grow hair on my bikini line, too. Ugh. I made DH promise I could get laser treatments once we can afford it.

Hey girls!

I used Veet Ready To Use Wax Strips for Face today and it worked VERY well. I am incredibly impressed! It removed ALL of the hair above my lip and it was so very easy to do (YIPPY!) I am super excited about it. This is an easy and affordable solution for now. Thank you for all of the advice. If only the Bikini Area was as simple as that...I can see how one may get carried away waxing once you start...now I want to wax everything...well, not everything... :P
