Yes, a few times. The one I remember most is a guy hunted me down after a meeting in our big conference room at work and asked to see my diamond up close because he kept noticing is sparkling from across the room.
Yes, my very first ER compliment came from a gentleman on the subway. I had just got engaged the day before (Sunday) and was on my way to work Monday AM and holding onto the subway bar. A man I did not know but who obviously recognized me (from the subway commute) said congratulations on your engagement. Beautiful ring. Did you set a wedding dat yet?
After that I always turned my ring in to my palm though his compliment was innocuous and he was perfectly nice. No sense taking chances.
The only time I've received a compliment was when a colleague noticed my cz earrings (yellow canary center with white cushion halo). He said he'd "never seen anything like it before" and that he buys a lot of jewelry for his girlfriend, and that's why he notices. Lucky lady!
Yes. More than I expected.
Most are older gentlemen who marvel at the size of my stone; most diamonds they have seen are under 1ct. In their minds, my DH is a super hero...lol!
One gentleman was a retired jeweler, and guessed the size, quite accurately.
Most of the compliments I receive generate comments like, “You must have a REALLY good man.”, or “He must REALLY love you!”. I admit, I’m blessed...but not because he showers me with diamonds, or was able to afford to purchase a high quality center diamond, over 1ct. That’s just a bonus...lol!!!
Yes, and I really appreciated the compliments as the two pieces concerned are two of my favourites.
Both men are family friends who have wives/partners who love beautiful high quality jewellery. So the men have ‘a good eye’ and experience of shopping for jewellery.
They have bought their partners some fabulous jewellery.
I think it’s also the place where you receive the compliment, if you’re on a train or bus in a public place it might be a little worrying as you feel vulnerable, to theft etc. If it’s in a social group or work place etc it’s not such an issue of safety etc!
It's a 50/50 mix between male and female compliments. Both my original ER and the OEC get lots of compliments: the original ER on the whole kit and kaboodle (D, well cut sparkler and gorgeous ring) and the OEC for it's sheer size and chunky flashes.
Many times. They were men I knew well so it didn’t make me feel uncomfortable. If a man who was complete stranger came up and asked me a lot of questions that may make me feel uncomfortable. Where if he just said “pretty ring”, that wouldn’t bother me.
