This happens to me, I think partially because I''m only 5ft. I''m 38. I always say those aren''t highlights, those are gray hairs. Those are not freckles, they''re age spots. Just because I get pimples, doesn''t mean I''m young :)

Anyway, when my husband took me to get a laptop the sales lady said it was nice of him to buy his daughter one, he''s 1 year older than me. My two boys are taller than me so people assume my husband has three kids. I got carded just last week buying lighters. When checking out books at the library-it''s in our local high school-I was told it was time to go back to class.

It''s nice but it''s also hard because I am getting older. Getting closer to 40 is harder than I thought. No one stays young forever and I think the closer you get to 40 you realize that more.
Oh my... m sure your husband must be amused.

But yes, I find it annoying when your opinions get discounted by your peers simply cuz you look ''young'' or ''inexperienced''.

Until I met my husband, I went everywhere with my brother, we are really close. And I constantly got carded everywhere we went, because they thought he was my dad. Yes, he''s balding, but come on! He doesn''t look that much older, at least not to me, but he is a foot taller. I''m 5''2", and I have a very young face. So my age gets assumed a lot, and it''s usually WAY younger than I really am.

Oh, and it has nothing to do with how I eat, exercise, or the fact that I don''t smoke or drink often, or my lack of makeup. It''s genes, not me trying to force myself to appear younger.

Oh I totally agree with this - I hate not being taken seriously because I appear young.

Yes/No... People seem to guess that I''m older than I am, but say that I look younger than I am. Does that make sense?? Something along the lines of, "Oh... You''re probably 24, but you look like you''re 19." FWIW, I''m 22. I''m baby-faced and had braces up until this past week, but am also a graduate student. So it sort of makes sense.

Some of the girls in the gym were asking me how long I was with D and when I told them 10 years, they were like, wow you must be with him since you were 12/13! I''m 27. I still get carded sometimes when I''m out. It drives me mad, although I''m sure I''ll like it when I''m older.

Nope. I look my age. Totally.

I dont have kids, but my mom gets that all the time. People assume she is my older sister. Also once when I was about 18, my dad came to my office to drop me off some dinner, and all the woman there said, "Wow your bf is so hot. That was so sweet of him!" I was like ewww no, thats my dad!

Both of my parents have gotten carded for alcohol within the last 5 years. They are 47!

I am 28, 29 in two months and I get carded every single time I buy lotto tickets. I love it! I think I will be pretty upset when it stops. When we were at Halloween horror nights last year the id guy told me to not even try to show him a fake id so I could drink with my dad right there! That was AWESOME!

I tell people I''m 48, so yeah, people tell me I don''t look my age.

I''m very petite with a relatively young-looking face, so I look quite a bit younger than I am. I''m 25, and recently a flight attendant tried to reseat me because she thought I was too young for the exit row (under 15, apparently). I was slightly offended. I was traveling with my parents, but I definitely do not believe I look, dress, or speak like a middle-schooler!

When I was graduating from law school last year, I was looking for a dress for graduation. I told several salespeople that I was searching for a "graduation dress," and they immediately responded, "Which high school?"

At work, people routinely ask me if I''m the "high school intern." Sometimes, clients will tell me that I should consider going to law school "when I grow up."

After many years of this, I now take it as a compliment (most of the time).

I must look young to people... I still get carded consistently (and sometimes even my hubby gets carded when he is with me -- he swears he never gets carded without me there). I am currently 26 and will turn 27 this year.

Also I like to have fun with people when they ask my age so I will ask them to guess first, usually they guess 20-24. I like to think of it as a compliment.

Everyone expresses surprise at my age. I don''t look that young. But I am holding up rather well, thank you.

Yes and I love it! I''m 28 and my sister is 22. People are always asking who is younger, which was especially fun at my sister''s college graduation in May. She kept giving me dirty looks. My parents neighbors, who I have known since I was 4, routinely think I am my sister when I''m home visiting. And not just one set of neighbors. It makes me happy. My sister looks young too but apparently I am aging much better. People usually think I''m 20-23.

i don''t have kids, but people always take me for younger because i dress so casually and don''t wear makeup, i take it as a compliment

I do, but it''s genetic. I''ll be 33 in a few weeks, but people usually guess around 26. My parents were mistaken for being in their 30s into their early 50s - I guess that our oily Mediterranean skin doesn''t wrinkle

The problem is, I still get the occasional pimple - still, I''d rather have younger looking skin, I guess, even at the expense of an occasional breakout.

Only when my white roots aren''t showing.

Not me (no kids), but my Mom has been confused for my sister many times.

I also don''t have kids, but yes, people generally tend to think I''m younger than I am. Not by much, usually about 4-7 years, but that''s a relatively large percentage of my age and puts me into the late teen to very early twenties category instead of the mid-twenties category. For me and what I do, it''s a really great thing.

Yes, I always get carded, and people don''t believe me when I tell them my real age. I have no problem with that now :-), but I did when I was 21 and everyone thought I was a teen.

I don''t think I look my age, compared to a lot of my peers. I''m 41 in a few weeks, have very young-looking hair, very few wrinkles, and dress younger. Most of my family are like this, my mother is 69 and looks nothing like a little old lady.

However, I take it with a grain of salt when people try to guess my age, I''m aware that out of politeness most people will subtract 5 years from the age they really think you are. So if they guess early to mid 30''s ( which most do) I must look around my age.

I also think it''s got to do with attitude and a general air about someone. At first glance people might assume I am younger, but to talk to me for even a short while I don''t think anyone would think I am anywhere near 30.

Lol Whitby....err, Dakota.

I am often asked for my ID when buying beer, and I do get surprised looks when I tell people that I am 36. Most think I am in my 20''s.

I am 22 and it was less than a year ago that I got carded for an R rated movie.

This summer someone asked me if I was out of school (implying high school) already. They are always surprised when I tell them I will be graduating college in December.

i don''t have kids either, but i feel and look younger than my age. i''ll say most people think i''m 20-ish, but i''ll be 29 in a few weeks. i guess it has a lot to do with my height since i''m barely 5''1. i don''t mind getting carded at all. in fact, i get kinda upset if someone doesn''t card me for alcohol since beer/liquor stores have signs saying they''ll check ID''s for people who appear to be 35 and under. i also manage a sports bar so by law, i have to card everyone. even if someone is graying and obviously over 21, if they don''t have a valid ID, no drinks. i find that women are happier about being carded than men too. a lot of younger guys get a little ''tude with me when i ask for their ID, and then it turns out that they JUST turned 21.

my mom looks incredible for her age! she''ll be 61 next month, but she looks like she could totally pass for 40. i''m hoping i got her genes and will look half as good as she does when i''m her age. she says that menopause just happened to agree with her. haha!

My mom used to be mistaken as my older sister/cousin, so I''m guessing the same will happen to me.

I have a friend who is 24, but gets asked by flight attendants where her parents are and if she''ll need an escort during the flight...

I don''t have children, but people do tend to think I look younger than I am (I guess they don''t see the crow''s feet that I see?). I think it''s just because I have a chubby face, and that looks "youthful" to people. Interestingly, when people meet me with my older (by 2 years) sister, they think she is the younger one!

(i have given up taking DF''s questions seriously!)

People say I look young, I think it''s becos I''m short, unfortunately. Guess there''s got to be something good about being 165cm!

Hey there, Lara!!

How is it going? Good to hear from you. How''s your daughter and the rest of your brood?

1.65m is NOT short at all. If you think that''s short, I''d hate to tell you my height!!

Btw, you DO look young and gorgeous.

I looked like a teen-ager into to my early thirty''s, then I noticed that my face started falling off in my late thirties, so yes, I feel as if I look my age now or older. Oh well, what are ya gonna do...

Hi there Phoenix!
35.gif
It's nice to be back. I've been busy with the baby, she is just gorgeous, and of course is smiling lovely open-mouthed smiles and vocalising and being cute. My elder children (when they can tear themselves away from thumping each other over the head) are abso.utely adorable with her.

Surely you are not shorter than me? *cough* I bet you're half my weight as well... specially now with my 'baby bonus' haha.

And you don't have short girl diamonds either!! I wince every time I hear guys saying that because their gf is short, they only have to buy her a little diamond. My colleagues at work used to call me 'The Little General'. 'Nuff said.
