has anybody ever thought you were the elder sister of your kids?

I don''t have kids but I''ll answer your question anyway. People always think I''m a lot younger than I really am. I''m a shortie, and by the end of the school year, many of my students are either my height or even slightly taller. I''ve even had a few grown ups walk into my classroom and have a hard time finding me if I''m sitting among the kids.

I don''t have children, but I do have people ask me where I go to school- like, HIGH SCHOOL. I''m 28!! I''m not offended by it, but I don''t think I look THAT young!!

Depends on how I''m dressed...
When dressed for business, especially at conferences, I make sure to look my age, if not slightly older.
On my days off, in a T-shirt and jeans- I slip right in with the shorties :-)

I used to get that a lot. I interviewed as a teacher at a high school and on the way to my car, the school security stopped me and wanted to know why I was skipping school! I also get carded every time I would buy alcohol. I haven''t gotten that I look younger in a while....probably b/c I have a 4 year old attached to my hip everywhere I go now!

I think I could easily pass for 10 years younger. I don''t look like my daughter''s older sister seeing how she is not even two yet but inspire to one day.

I am young enough, but I sometimes get mistake for younger. I was carded for a lottery ticket three times last month.

No kids here either, but most people think I am younger than my sister who is two years younger than I am. During my internships and recently at my new job, people have made comments about how I couldn''t possibly have a Master''s let alone Bachleor''s degree because I couldn''t be that far into my twenties. Whether or not I take offense depends on how the person says its.

No!!! And if they ever did, they would be lying! I was 27 when I had my first child and 34 when I had my last so I don''t think that will ever happen.

Nope.

No kids here either, but *sigh* yes. I am 31 and change, and was refused alcohol and almost thrown out of a pub here in London two weeks ago because the bartender thought I might not be legally allowed to drink. The drinking age here is 18!

No doubt in a decade or two, it''ll be nice. But now, it''s mostly just annoying.

yes ppl think I''m younger than I am (I posted a pic on the "do you think 40 is old" thread. For example when I was 36yr old I was pregnant with my 2nd child. A nanny at my daughter''s school told her boss that she couldn''t believe I was having another child so soon and so young..that she thought I should wait a while. She thought that I was in my early 20''s and swore I had my oldest at 19 yr or so. The nanny then comes up to me and says OMG I can''t believe you are 36 yr old..? I thought you were one of those child brides trying to grow up too fast! (she was very forward).

My sister is 4 yr younger than me and she gets so annoyed when ppl ask who''s younger.

Yes I have had many remarks that I don''t look my age, which is very nice!

People do tell me I look younger..I credit it to the Finnish blood! Finns always look younger, the men especially, all have that baby face! Friends always thought my father was decades younger than he was, which was good, since he didn''t have his first child (me) until he was 43!
I also think the fact that I don''t tan (not a sun worshiper), don''t smoke, or consume alchohol, exercise regularly, have no work related stress, and eat healthy, all contribute.

Oh absolutely, especially with the sun- I stay well out of it, always have and I think that is a big part of why I am told I do not look my age.

Why fankies!

I look younger than I am. These days I get 22-23 from people I meet, I am going to be 28 next month. I used to get carded buying alcohol all the time when I lived in the States. During our most recent trip back my husband (he is 37) was refused a sale at the liquor store because I was with him and didn''t have my ID on me.
I am also a parent and my 8 year old daughter has been asked "That''s you mom?" by her classmates. And I also got "Are you A''s sister?" from the kids in her class. People usually never believe me when I say that I have an 8 year old. I have gotten quite a few rude comments in the past such as "Did you have her when you were 12?". When we are out with my family, people tend to think that my daughter is my mom''s. I get slightly uncomfortable at PTA meetings, parent teacher conferences, doctor offices, kids birthday parties. I feel like I am not taken seriously as a parent because of how young I look.

absolutely. i look about 12.

i am often mistaken for dakota fanning.

(i have given up taking DF''s questions seriously!)

Ditto! Mine was 2 weeks ago....

I''m 29 and I still get carded on occasion. I think I look 29, but I do hear that I look younger on occasion. I''m OK looking 29. I''m not the type to be concerned about aging and getting older. I look forward to the amazing things that are ahead of me and I try to live each day like it''s my last. Like they say..."Life happens when you''re busy making plans."

I think I look my age, but mostly people think I''m yuonger. I don''t really mind, sometimes people don''t like to be ask their age, I don''t mind. I''m very proud of my age, just 26 so I still pretty young

Smart move.

I feel my age- but people often think I still look like I;m in my early 20''s maybe 21

I am few months shy of 40... ( eeeeek! )
Yesterday I went to get my hair cut trying a new hair dresser and the subject of marriage and children came up. I casually said that I am starting to get too old to have any, and the hair dresser looked at me with a weird look... She said ' aww come on, you have plenty of time '. When I said that I was almost 40, I think she snipped a little too much hair on the strand she was working on lol. She thought I was in my mid 20's. That was so sweet....

This happens to me, I think partially because I''m only 5ft. I''m 38. I always say those aren''t highlights, those are gray hairs. Those are not freckles, they''re age spots. Just because I get pimples, doesn''t mean I''m young :)

Anyway, when my husband took me to get a laptop the sales lady said it was nice of him to buy his daughter one, he''s 1 year older than me. My two boys are taller than me so people assume my husband has three kids. I got carded just last week buying lighters. When checking out books at the library-it''s in our local high school-I was told it was time to go back to class.

It''s nice but it''s also hard because I am getting older. Getting closer to 40 is harder than I thought. No one stays young forever and I think the closer you get to 40 you realize that more.

A sales lady just recently asked if my 15-year-old daughter and I were sisters. I just turned 40. Fortunately, daughter has a good sense of humor and thought it was funny. I could see some girls not liking that too much.

hahaha Totally! I look about 12 as well. Many times the liquer store has praised me on how authentic my fake ID looks.
