Thanks in advance for the replies.

I, unlike some, really enjoy the antique white of faint yellow stones. I am considering buying one from a reputable vendor on here that has medium blue fluoresence. My slight concern is that the fluor will make the stone look whiter while I really want to see the warmth, which is why I am buying an L. The stone will be set in platinum.

Any thoughts or experiences on how med blue fluor affect lower colored stones are appreciated?

Is this your engagement ring from Mr. Darcy, you lucky girl?

I bet your L will still look warm enough to make you happy.

I have an S color with strong blue fluorescence. In some lights it looks quite yellow, and in some lights it looks quite white. It looks whitest under incandescent light, I think because the light is yellowish to begin with, so the eye expects to see yellow and sort of discounts it. (At least, that''s my hypothesis.) In daylight, it generally looks yellowish, despite the fluorescence.

Of course, an S is a lot yellower than an L. But I wouldn''t be surprised if yours behaved similarly anyway.

I am interested in answers to this thread. I have seen people say in other threads, that they like fluorescence but not why. So why do you like it if you own one? Is the stone always blue in sunlight?

Ditto Lady G, I would think an L even with fluorescence should still be warm enough compared to colourless stones to please you, but ask the vendor how the warmth shows in this particular stone.

I have a couple of diamonds with fluorescence, I like the effect because -

It makes the stone look more ''plugged in'' in most lightings
I enjoy the violety glow when the lighting is right
It adds interest and reminds me of the gemological origins of that pretty ring

I think that the blue fluor will sometimes spoil the "warm" look, since it might sometimes either turn the stone whitish or blueish, which are both cold colours.
Quite likely, you''ll be paying a few % extra for a med fluor in a tinted stone because most people would view it as a bonus to potentially cancel-out some of the yellow.

If I wanted a warm stone, I would go for none, negligible or faint fluor.
